A couple months back I predicted that the FA's would fix everything and then step into a "time bubble" so as to be unreachable by the authorities and be in a position to reach back into time and rectify some of their more major screw ups (like fixing things everytime someone is shot/shoots oneself in the head). It looks like I was thinking in the right direction, but naturally the way Warren and Paul are doing it is about a million times more interesting than anything I pictured in my head.

Other than that, I'm looking forward to a "normal" weekend having the full family back in the household after a chaotic couple of weeks where we all had our own things going on and were scattered to the four cardinal directions. Family is good. I love the way these characters have developed and I'm going to miss them all hugely when this ends. But the way that Connor and Arkady have pulled it all together to lead rather than being side-lined or over-looked (there's no such thing as a minor character in Warren's work - I should know this by now) has definitely secured this series a special place in my heart. There's no doubt about it, I'm going to have to sell a kidney and maybe a couple of other organs to get the super deluxe editions of all the books.

I can't say that I'm stoked about them just leaving. I hope they at least explain to someone (besides Alice, who would seem a bit like John the Baptist, lone nutter spouting shit about Freakangels to the rest of the world, despite how bizarre the past few years had been) what happened, who they were, all that. And I'm not really on board with just bugging out after fixing the hole but not working on the aftermath like they did with Whitechapel proper... I dunno. It just seems more like running away to me, and that's not really what they've been about for most of this volume.

I'll reserve final judgment for the last ep (and probably a long time after that, giving it time to process), but I can't say that I'm terribly happy with them right now. Not that I don't like the comic, I'm just very disappointed in their decision. So far.

That said, I love how Paul gives even the most seemingly mundane conversation scene the most interesting poses. Even Alice's half-smile in panel two is great. I'm really going to miss your art, Paul (and company), and I really hope you get a regular gig after this.

As for me, this week I got accepted to school (interior design, heh), picked up my daughter from three weeks at the in-laws, and... that's about it. Big day of errands and chores today. Joking aside, this has been one of the single best ongoing comic, online or otherwise, I have read in a good long while. As other posters have said, Freakangels stands neck and neck with Planetary, and I posit, Transmetropolitan. In fact I need to purchase Freakangels vol 6 and Transmet vol 10 to complete my collection. The art has been pure nirvana, and I wish Paul Duffield all the best and a good long career as a comic artist.

I had been wondering if the 'Angels they communicated with during their death-experiences was a projection free of time and space, a bit of each of their consciousnesses and powers relieved of earthly and temporal tethers, or if they were the Angels of a future time reaching back to say "now is not your time."

Funnily it came down to how to read the line "Luke, you are still a complete wanker." Did they mean "even now, going through death, you are a wanker as always" (inflection on "are") or did they mean "oh don't worry, where/when we are now you are yet a wanker" (inflection on "still")? The story seems to be headed into the second meaning, more or less.

And hell I've been wondering why/how the FreakAngels exist since the first episode. And each flashback has given tantalizing clues and glimpses, but still no real information! I guess it would be fitting if the end is what gives up the eternal state of being while everything between the beginning and end was temporal, mundane noise. Goddammit, Ellis I love this shit.
