I admit I haven't looked into the man's overall voting record, but New York State Senator Roy McDonald's (R) statement in defense of his support for Gay Marriage was one of hope for sanity.
"You get to the point where you evolve in your life where everything isn't black and white, good and bad, and you try to do the right thing. You might not like that. You might be very cynical about that. Well, fuck it, I don't care what you think. I'm trying to do the right thing. I'm tired of Republican-Democrat politics. They can take the job and shove it. I come from a blue-collar background. I'm trying to do the right thing, and that's where I'm going with this."
Russ Feingold wasn't nuts. The Wisconsin Senator was smart, honorable and understood how unlimited anonymous campaign funds would corrupt the fuck out of an already corrupt plutocracy. And for his noble efforts, he was defeated by a tea partier right before the Republican governor of Wisconsin--funded by the psychotic Ren and STempy of the GOP, the Koch bros--decided to go union busting and pension disintegrating and slashing benefits for those dregs of society: teachers, cops and firefighters. And Russ had to sit at home and watch it on TV rather than actively work to defeat them. Well, he did start a Progressive PAC to combat the GOP SuperPACs. Stay tuned.
