Thanks and farewell Warren. Best of luck in the future with the words and know that we'll be looking forward to reading them, however they may come.

You'll always be closing some idiotic thread... in my heart. (one last eeling for old time's sake) And now off to drink your health.

Warren--thank you for putting up with yet another message board for 3+ years, and as always, giving motley crews across the world a place to call home. Enjoy what peace and quiet the end brings you, as you go on to other things.

You gotta lotta damn gall, just saying goodbye like you did, I'll give you that. It's almost like you care about us. More damn Gaul than the fucking French OR the goddamn Romans, and that's saying something. Looneynerd'd back me up on this.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have something in my eye and we all know THERE'S NO CRYING IN WHITECHAPEL.

Thanks for keeping this petri dish alive longer than anyone thought it would go. Some really great stuff has happened here.
See you on the other side of the internet, sir.

I hate saying goodbyes. Either I think of something better to say to the departing person when they're out of earshot, or my composure feels as if it's just been dropped off the Transamerica Pyramid.

Dear Warren Ellis, I have not been part of very many online communities because the anonymity afforded by the Internet seemed to be used as an excuse for the vile or the mentally ill to attack people without fear of retribution. Whitechapel was different. Depending on the thread I clicked on and followed, at its best this Internet community was a place to share our collective loves and idiosyncracies. You served as a gruff electronic grandfather whose surface crabbiness hid a love for trying to bring out the best in its participants...or else was matched by a zero tolerance level towards electronic arseholes.

Yes, physically I know you're not gone. But since this forum provided the only way that the average fan could converse with you or catch your interest while giving geography and degree of acquaintance the raspberry, your electronic decamping still hurts.

Good luck, sir, and may your future creative works continue to entertain and even challenge me.

See you around, Warren. Congratulations on finishing this extremely ambitious and enjoyable story, and on building and running this amazing community in the meantime. Also, thanks sincerely for all that. And good luck on your future projects. I look forward to them. Cheers.

I've never been personally threatened in a more elegant manner by a sysop before. You made it magic, Mr. Ellis.
