@ Rooth - I use Photoshop. I fill in the outline with a flat base colour and then use an airbrush on a low opacity setting to add shadows and highlights.

    The Daily Mash, amusingly synchronistic:

SCORES of disappointed rioters queued up this morning to return goods they had mistakenly looted from Games Workshop.

What the fuck is this when it's at home?
The crestfallen thieves had raided the store hoping for a PS3 or Nintendo bounty but arrived home to find they had stolen a box containing 300 unpainted Orcs and a board game called Beyond the Ultraforest of Kwang.

Martin Bishop, 19, said: "I am returning The Runering of Fangor.

"It includes two dice, each with about 40 sides and instructions on how to gain the trust of a 'cloud wizard'.

"And yet somehow I'm the fucking bad guy."

He added: "Nevertheless I am now immune to Dwarven magic, so it hasn't been a complete waste of time."

Meanwhile, historical kitsch outlet Past Times reported the return of a pair or resin bookends in the shape of the Egyptian cat-god Sekhmet and 254 teak statues of a fat, reclining Buddha.

Not sure if this falls into the "real art" category. Since it is photomanip

[EDIT: Image annihilated by entropy-bombs. Rules very clearly state no photo manipulation.]

Neil: Love the image and the concept, and great way to use the "desert breath" angle.

Kxkrah: Woot! A good entry like that is NEVER too late. Welcome.

Really encouraged by all the new blood in the thread, bodes well for the future.

Wow there is so much awsome art here! O:
My name is Morgan Brewer, and I'm throwing my hat in the ring. Watercolor on coldpress. Had to do some digital fidling because scanners hate traditional artists.

@ kxkrah, love the costume on this one- I'm a big fan of clothes that are clearly inspired by Egyptian paraphenalia but really do their own thing with it. I would gladly wear... All of that. :) The mirrored sun motif in the top and belt are especially nice.

@Morag, awesome! This contest is just driving the point home that comics need way more badass black women.

@shoomlah, Or women of other ethnicities period. There are so many interesting cultures and backgrounds out there, it's unfortunate that so few have been tapped.
