    Hey guys,

I'm off to Edinburgh on Monday to visit some friends and go to the Edinburgh Festival for the first time. At the moment I only have planned to go to the Scotsman Steps and see Grant Morrison on Saturday. Is there anything anyone could/would be so kind as to recommend I do?

I've been visiting Edinburgh quite frequently over the last year but I haven't been a major tourist up there. If anyone in Edinburgh fancies meeting up for beer/whisky/choose your poison I'd be more than happy, I'm there for a week from 15th (my Birthday) till 22nd.

There are a number of free exhibits at the Art Festival (details available at the Fruitmarket Gallery, right opposite the bottom of the Scotsman Steps, among other places) as well as the not-directly-Festival-related reopening of the Royal Museum on Chambers Street. There are apparently hundreds of free events on the Fringe this year. Neil Gaiman's been recommending shows on his Twitter feed for a few days now (I saw him and Amanda Palmer wandering by yesterday). Been working the Art Festival myself, haven't seen anything outside it yet.

I've friends playing in the Fringe. "Briefs" is very good bit of campy and sexy physical circus at the 'guilded balloon'. You will say 'wow' more than once. And 'Skitch Tease' is a very funny woman (and my good friend) Liz Skitch, naked but for a squeeze box at 'C venues'. From Brisbane, where we know how to put on a show.

Cool guys, it's much appreciated, I'll check out all the free stuff and try and catch at least one of those two that you suggest @daz .
    Thanks again

Just saw The Boy With Tape on His Face and it's the first thing I'd happily recommend to anybody. I thought people describing it as 'magical' were just wankers but I was wrong.
