The end of Happy, Texas, where he's locked up in prison and the girl comes to see him, and they talk through the wire mesh fence with the prison guards around and they fight and she starts to walk away and he calls after her: "Don't make me come after you, they'll shoot me."
I tend to overuse this whenever getting into an elevator. From Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Dr. Gonzo: Cows are gonna kill me. Bisexuals are gonna kill me. Let's get out of here, where's the elevator? Raoul Duke: No, fuck! Don't go near the elevator man, that's just what they want us to do. Trap us in a steel box, take us down to the basement. Come here. Don't run, man. They'd like any excuse to shoot us.
I've been watching Buffy season 1. Ah, Whedon, king of quips. "I laugh in the face of danger, and then I hide until it goes away." "Oh please. I don't mean to interrupt your downward mobility, but I just wanted to tell you that you won't be meeting Coach Foster, the woman with the chest hair, because gym was cancelled due to the extreme dead guy in the locker." "What is your childhood trauma?!" "Yes, yes! Shake, earth! This is a sign. We are in the final days. My time is come! Glory, glory! What do you think? Five point one?"
This one is Brendan Gleeson, in In Bruges. Early on there is a nice little scene when he's trying to get into the clocktower. Counting out five euros in shrapnel for the jobsworth official behind the counter, he ends up being ten cents short.
Ken: "Will you take 4.90?"
"Entry is 5 euro."
Ken: "Come on, man, it's only 10 cents."
"Entry is 5 euro."
[Ken produces a 50 euro note from his wallet and hands it over] Ken: "Happy in your work?"
"Very happy."
There are so many great bits of dialogue in this movie but Gleeson's delivery on his last line here is delicious. Lovely little throwaway.
Also from In Bruges, though now I can't remember if it's from the film or the outtakes, but it's one me and my brother use a lot when we see something interesting
I still don't condone anything that is going on here. I don't want to try to understand what went wrong with the global humor-literacy initiative of 1999, aka internet (because obviously it has been a failure).
I don't think "It is I, leClerc" counts as a throwaway line. It's more his catchphrase. A throwaway line is one of those blink-and-you'll-miss-it lines that's not put forth as a major joke.
Speaking of "Up", yeah, that movie rocks with those. "Now, we're gonna walk to the falls quickly and quietly with no rap music or flashdancing."
The dogs especially. "I like you temporarily!" "I was hiding under your porch because I love you." "I am here with the bird, and then I will bring it back, and then you will like me. Oh, gotta go."
Ooh, ooh, Zombieland. That one has one of my favorite lines ever. "You're like a giant... cock blocking robot, like developed in a secret fucking government lab."
Bender walks casually into the room, months after his supposed death. Everyone's jaws drop Fry: Bender! You're back from the dead! Bender (dismissively): Yeah, I'm back from a lotta things...
I don't know why this makes me laugh so hard, but it does.
