    @Doc Ocassi, attacking the mainstream media isn't an excuse for posting something so incredibly juvenile and tasteless.

    I'm fine with fighting back against the mainstream media and challenging people's assumptions, but joking that a catastrophic attack on... well... anything, much less Ground Zero on the weekend of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, has occurred isn't going to gain a group favorable attention from anyone. It just lets people know what a bag of crusty, oozing dicks the group is.

    (I realize this wasn't your point. I'm just annoyed and ranting because, hey, this is the internet.)

    We've got dogs, pigs, mice, and rats with the glowing jellyfish protein in their DNA, and now we've got cats. And the gene is also passed down to their kittens. They're cute, for sure, and now kitties can be used for real genetic research. But they're not going to sell them to normies, so toss those dreams of the perfect kitty party out the window.

    @celan RE: Spoilers.

    All the stories they chose are old enough to be cliché, have entered the public consciousness and thus can't be spoiled?

    Even if the tests results were accurate the extrapolations they draw are kinda wrongheaded. A wrapped present isn't like a plot twist. It's closer to a horror movie, in that it's a safe way to experience suspense, surprise and shock. No one wants these ruined. It'd be like if while watching a horror movie some red faced, blustering, windbag poked at you and said "Hey, scary part coming up in 3,2,1...".

    A good twist is like a safe way to experience mind altering drugs, or maybe a psychotic break? Your entire worldview is shattered, the walls come crumbling down. Or it's at least good for a cheap thrill. I dunno. I love a good plot twist and it's all too rare of an experience.

    I mean, spoilers happen because the participant had a such a strong reaction to that aspect of the story they had to share disregarding normal social graces.

    Also, just knowing that a story has a twist can be enough to disrupt the effect, so I wonder how clued in the test subjects were. The prescreening for experiments like these can be none too subtle. Anyway....
