    Picked up :
    Secret Avengers 16
    Ultimate Comics Ultimates #1
    Ultimate Hawkeye #1
    JL 1
    Iron Man 2.0 #8

All were good comics. JL was the most childish of the bunch, but thought it totally did its job of getting readers interested in the JL and being accessible.

The ultimate stuff was great, smart and cerebral reads.

Secret Avengers took two reads to win me over, but was a VERY well constructed comic. The pacing, art , and storytelling is all top notch.

IM 2.0- This book is great again. Really awesome issue.

Excited for new CASANOVA and David Aja wolverine next week !

Now I feel like a bad person- Picking at the bones of Borders, now that it's 60% off minimum, I grabbed Finder Library 1 and Finder: Voices. That's too much great comics for too little money. In my defense, I already own the lovely hardcover of Sin Eater. I was really hoping to get the rest of Finder in that format, but a different publisher makes that idea unlikely.

I have just written the phrase "Newman Xeno transsexual hookers." Thank you, Matt Fraction.

Casanova was amazing. It makes me really want to go back and read the previous 2 stories seeing as how I haven't read them since they came out.

So, my shop forgot to pull Casanova for me, so I am stuck waiting for next week. That being said, I still have swamp thing waiting for tomorrow but I read Animal Man. The art seemed a little disjointed but I loved the story. I did appreciate how, art wise it sort of harkens back to classic AM, I am excited to see where this goes. Especially with the last page, it is not what I expected but it makes me really want to read the next issue, which is the whole point after all.

I enjoyed the hell out of Action #1. I hope they can somehow freeze time and just write this character for a few years, despite knowing the plan is to advance from this guy to the more usual idea of who Superman is over the course of the next several issues.

My LCS was sold out of Swamp Thing and Action Comics when I got there, which I took as a sign to not buy too many comics. I got Animal Man and Casanova. I've never read Casanova before. I was very very confused. I really enjoyed Animal Man, actually, and think I may follow it for a while, if money allows. This surprised me, as it was the bottom of my list of things to possibly buy.

i wasnt too into ACTION, and i dont really know why. i DID like that the famous 'fast than a speeding bullet, able to leap tall buildings, more powerful than a speeding locomotive' taglines were all addressed without explicitly being mentioned.

ANIMAL MAN was my favorite of the rebooters, with SWAMP THING and STORMWATCH following closely. the big surprise for me was the over the top TOTAL! COMICS! STYLE! of OMAC. i expected nothing from that book at all and enjoyed it quite a bit.

pretty excited for CRIMINALs ending tomorrow. i expect unpleasantness, in the best way possible.

Figured I would post this here. Over at the web site for my podcast [Counting the Lights] we added a new weekly column about the DC 52 reboot and comics in general. Mostly just to have a laugh about everything. Added a link if anyone wants to check it out...

the BIG LIE was not a very good comic book. i believe more of the 'truther' side of things than the 'official' story about 9 11 (except for some totally ridiculous shit about them blowing up the towers, but thats neither here nor there), but without even getting in to the politics/conspiracy this comic was very amateurish and i expected much better from these two.

also, i was surprised how much i liked SUICIDE SQUAD this week. pretty solid stuff there. oh and everyone who suddenly cares about amanda waller being skinny? you do realize she was in the GL movie played by angela bassett? it couldnt possibly be just one more thing thats being carried over from movies/tv? i really dont understand why people get so worked up.

BATMAN & ROBIN however, was not at all what i want. read the dialogue between bruce and damian out loud. ugh.

and hot damn that new OPTIC NERVE is a nice lookin book. will be reading that one after i finish all my bombastic popcorn comics

I want to punch everyone who bought some Green Lantern book or 2nd Teir Batman title instead of Atomic Robo right in their stupid fat faces. It's like Hellboy x Nextwave and all the characters look different and if a scene is set in a room full of people they don't magically switch places panel to panel and speaking of panels there are more than 3 per page. Makes a nice change.

batwoman is far too pretty to be second tier anything.

(apologies, in my enthusiasm I got a bit gamefaqs'y)

I picked up Batwoman and it was beautiful.
I also picked up Scud: The Disposable Assassin - The Whole Shebang for $15! (Store is having a sale with a decent amount of trades being 60% off). Haven't read it yet, but have been told by many people for much too long that I need to buy it.

I listened to people and picked up Animal Man #1 this week. Definitely worth the recommendation, so thanks. Also, it increases the amount of New DC books I was buying by 100%, to a total of 2.

Gladstone's School for World Conquerors #5 hit this week, and I still recommend it to anyone at all. It's such a fun read, and it looks like there's going to be more to it than just the initial story arc.

Ultimate Spider Man #1- ripped off the silly bag and threw it away first thing. Why do they do that? Anyway, I never bought the other Ultimate Spider-Man series in anything but the giant-sized yearly collections, which was a lot of fun. Comparing this to that, there's just a huge amount of ground that's going to need to be re-covered to build up a world as rich as had been created. I'm sure Bendis can do this, I'm just not sure why it's necessary. Oh well, I enjoyed it anyway, plus it'll be nice to have a favorite Bendis book hold to a monthly schedule. I miss Powers, and Scarlett's schedule is a little worrying as well.

I was actually surprised that Criminal: Last of the Innocent #4 was the last issue. For some reason I thought it would be 5 issues. Still, it was a great read as usual and an excellent twist on the usual style.

I hadn't intended to pick up Batwoman, but the thing was too goddamned beautiful to resist. Unfortunately I haven't a clue about the backstory, and the forestory is only so-so. We'll see what next month's is like.

Damn, I miss Powers. Can't argue with Bendis doing what he feels like doing, and Marvel is undoubtedly bringing him daily wheelbarrows of cash. With the TV show coming on-line, maybe that'll pull his attention back to it. On the other hand, New Avengers is a guilty pleasure, and I'd hate to see that one go away too.

Read part of Mr. Terrific, couldn't bring myself to read the rest, pretty terrible. Kinda enjoyed Batwoman, I'll need a little more to render a verdict. I was confused how Green Lantern made it through the reboot without changing anything, unless you read JL, then he's different, this confuses me. Criminal made me angry and sad. Fear Itself was a bit slow but I understand the chapter is building to the climax so I'm happy. I finally got a copy of Avarita but am waiting until I read Gula again. Oh and Daredevil is patiently waiting until I have time. Sorry for the scatter, it's been a hellish week, I may vent my spleen tomorrow.
