AVG, Spybot S&D, SuperAntiSpyware, spyware blaster, and ccleaner.

Keep AVG running as the main Antivirus.
Run Spybot and SuperAntiSpyware every month or so.
Update Spyware Blaster weekly. (It doesn't actually "run" anything, it plugs common/known vulnerabilities before they can be attacked)

The infection turned out to be the MBR rootkit (TLD4), which is apparently the worst bastard of a virus to remove.
