Comodo is what I use. Internet Security has an anti-virus and firewall packed in, and I've had zero problems with it. Keep AVG running as the main Antivirus.
Run Spybot and SuperAntiSpyware every month or so.
Update Spyware Blaster weekly. (It doesn't actually "run" anything, it plugs common/known vulnerabilities before they can be attacked)

Also, keeping a linux live disc around can be great for that too - you can boot from the disc and use the linux version of Avast! to scan every corner of your windows machine and since it's not running anything from within windows it prevents the virus/trojan from running/hiding/replicating/stopping your antivirus.
