    Now I don't believe anyone at a benefits agency gets a bonus for turning people down, but it often feels that way. My Dad works for a local advocacy and seems to deal with a lot of disability benefits cases and it always seems to get rather farcical. One woman had one leg (no prosthetic) and a host of other medical problems that meant she struggled to get out of a chair but her assessment seemed to describe a completely different woman who could practically jog across the room, defying both doctor's statements and reality - the only way the person assessing her could have reached those conclusions is by not seeing her and making it all up. Almost all the long-running cases he deals with involve people having to get their heads down and keep fighting, which is where he comes in as it can be dispiriting and people give up and he can help plot a route through all the red tape, laying out the case as succinctly and clearly as possible (he has no special training but a good eye for sorting through forms and the blanket of paperwork).

    So, whatever the motivation, they do try and make it hard for people to claim and there can often be cock-ups (thanks to them having a much larger workload than they can deal with), so people do often need support in fighting to get what they are due. There have been plenty of good suggestions here to follow, just keep your chin up and keep at it. I can't, for example, imagine that if you are granted benefits in one area and then you move, that you then get nothing again and have to go to the back of the queue again - there must be a system to allow for this, and for people to adjust what they are claiming as their circumstances change. The problem is finding the right angle of attack to take and that is where a second pair of eyes can come in handy.

    I'm going to be travelling around Europe later in the year, and it looks like I might be doing some work as I travel that requires internetting. So, I just wanted to know who are the best mobile broadband suppliers, especially if I'm going to be crossing borders and the like. Is that even possible? Or do I need to get sorted out in one country and then pay international rates?

    If that's going to prove to be difficult, then at the very least I'd like to know who's the best in the UK as that's where we'll be based for the majority of the time.

    These NASA JPL Wallpapers are my usual go-to for desktop backgrounds, although they don't seem to have any in 1920x1080 (they do have 1920x1200 for a lot of them)

    A quick googling for "hi-res wallpapers" brings me to here, which seems to have more than you could ever possibly want, in a staggering array of resolutions (including 1920x1080). No sorting by category, though, which could make searching through them a bit of a pain.

    @Corey Waits : there is no mobile internet supplier who covers more than one country in Europe. Basically if you try to use mobile internet in another country than the one you subscribed for it, you'll be charged a kidney per minute. Your best bet is to buy a sim card in each country (if you stay there long enough) or to look for wi-fi hotspots.

    NEW QUESTION: #distro

    Does anyone know of some good reliable metal distros out there that have a good stock of silkscreen patches? Can be of pretty much any subgenre, death, doom, black, etc. I know I could go to band sites and order there, but the time spent hunting and shipping costs really add up after a few orders. And as much as I'd love to just go to more shows and get them there like a normal fan, I can count the good metal shows here in the past four years on one hand.

    Example: For punk music, one could go to Interpunk, Machete Mfg., No Idea, and so on, but I can't seem to remember any distros of that sort that cater to metal fans.

    It's our wedding anniversary next Monday (it will be our3rd) and I'm looking for ideas. Apparently the 3rd Anniversary is the Leather year!

    Now Sigga is not into geek stuff and not that interested in S&M (which kinds of rules 75% of all leather items out). but any ideas would be much appreciated.

    #Anniversary I would assume that Iceland is a very cold place, so my vote would be for the leather coat. A really nice leather trench even, if she likes those. Some things to consider: do make sure you can figure out her size and fit for when you are shopping for it, and consider if she would be wearing layers underneath it. If you have a friend who has a similar body type and size as her, have the friend go with you and try on the coats. Also: any colors she prefers or types of styles she is most into? Getting her a leather coat would be "nice". Going through the extra effort to make sure it fits and is the sort of coat she would love to wear and look great in... that is something special. It's the attention to details that makes a gift special.

    Edit: I just thought of something else. Does she like vintage/retro clothes? I don't know how it is in Iceland, but here in the US (especially where I live) there are great Vintage and Thrift stores. It will probably take more looking, but the coat is certain to be more unique (an potentially kinder to your wallet). Also, fur isn't exactly leather, but it is oh so luxurious, warm and would hopefully be found in a vintage or thrift shore. If you are going that route, find out if there is a certain day they add new stock.

    @Wood - thanks for clearing that up for me. I'm not really surprised but I thought things might be different in Europe because there's a shared currency and so many countries so close together (relatively speaking - I'm from Australia after all).

    @emperor: Thanks. It's frustrating, because I'm not LYING about everything, but because everyone ASSUMES that you are doing something sketchy (because it's pretty impossible to live on the amount of money they give), I keep getting people warning me against pressing further because then they might FIND THINGS OUT! Which I'm ok with. Of course, I am also trying to figure out if there is a way I could start an LLC of some kind so that I could continue pursuing making money at photography and art, but not pay myself until I actually make a profit (against the web hosting, computer and camera bits, art supplies, etc...), but I'm not sure how legally feasible that is.

    why would you want to do that? If you're already using Unix or Linux
    ie: run windows through Unix or whatever.

    A friend of mine is a programmer, creating software and writing code for a variety of clients for a variety of commercial applications. Not all of these clients use the same operating systems. The advantage of being able to run one OS within an other gives you the opportunity to test the software on the OS the client will be using. This was particularly useful when he was working with XP writing programmes for Vista simply because Vista would render graphics differently affecting the formatting of various screens, in some cases making them much wider than intended. (stoopid Vista).

    The good thing about about Linux is that it requires much less space and processor power to run than any Windows product and is fully compatible with your various open source products like Open Office, Firefox, Total Commander, etc... (which we all use, right? Use them!) making it the ideal OS for older NetBooks with smaller processors and the smaller solid state drive (my old ASUS Eeepc with Linux and 2GB RAM is super fast)

    In Fact, (and somewhat veering from the topic) on my main PC the only windows products I use are XP and Solitare. Everything else is either open source or absolutely nothing to do with Microsoft. As for Apple: I do not now and never will own a single one of their products. Screw them.

Prefereably exacly like this one, but unfortunately it seems that they don't deliver as far as Oxford (and also it would be nice if they offered routing like this one, which doesn't provide edging)?
