    Manic Panic works over non-bleached hair to give it really dark / rich colours or you can bleach it first to get a more vibrant colour. It works best if you apply it then comb it in until it gets foamy. (I'm pretty sure that's in the instructions, but I can't remember.)

    I second Special Effects. I've been using it for years; they have some really nice colors which mix with each other very well, and it doesn't damage your hair at all.

    note: It fades over time, but never really leaves your hair. Once you dye your hair with the stuff, only growing it out or dying over it (bleaching the dyed hair turns it pastel) will change the color again.

    @RoughNight, that hasn't been my experience with the Special Effects blues. Perhaps my hair is just ultra-resistant, but I used both Fishbowl Blue and either Electric Blue or Blue Mayhem, and both disappeared from my hair within a month or two. The blues faded FAST on me though. That said, Manic Panic barely made a dent when I tried to use it, so. I guess my hair is just angry? Reds hold really well though.

    I've used both Special Effects and Manic Panic, and found that Special Effects (pink) was far more vibrant at first and faded less quickly than Manic Panic (purple). Though both certainly faded over time. I never used any special hair dye shampoos as I assumed that they were just a marketing scam. I have blonde hair.

    New question: #Alternativerealities

    Through a weird coincidence, I've found myself reading Indigo Prime, Cassanova and The Adventures of Luther Arkwright all in the same few days. I can only assume that this is the universe's way of telling me to read more about alternative realities and/or histories. So, can anyone recommend some good fiction on the subject? Any medium is good, I'd love to hear what people are enjoying.

    It's called Walls Between Worlds and I've been describing it as "The Spy who came in from the Multiverse."

    I also second mentions of at least the first book in A Nomad of the Time Streams trilogy.

    I've heard good things about Fringe, so you've just given me the push I needed. I remember Sliders fairly fondly, but I've been assuming that it might not have aged well. I will take another look though! Cheers!

    Sliders is super hit-or-miss, but when it hits, it REALLY hits. And it had Jonathan Rhys-Davies in it, and that makes up for a lot of shortcomings.
