Ah, ok. The MMO factor actually makes me less enthused; I really don't have the time to commit to one and I'm still very much burned after being WoW sober for six months. It does seem pretty cool though (and the guy in that vid has a distinctly John Constantine feel about him).

    @InvincibleM

I have added the importance of slamming AND jamming into my every day vocabulary. I just got to the part where I fought Ghost Dad (Bill Cosby) and was hit on by Jawanna Mann. I never want this to end.

Okay, so I've been playing around on the Secret World's website. This looks... well, hell, this looks about as close to my idea of the perfect MMO as I'm ever likely to see.

@RenThing: I probably should have mentioned that in the first post, shouldn't I? Fair enough though, I've never really gotten into an MMO past their trial periods, so it's either this or Guild War 2, which wins because of no subscription fee.

Friend of mine's hearing a rumor that The Secret World is going free to play. Anyone know one way or another if there's something to that?

If it is free to play/microtransaction based I'd be more down to check it out (especially since it has Cthulhu-esque beasties).

Space Marine is pretty fun. I've got it on PS3 and have only been able to put in about and hour and a half into the campaign so far (stupid work and school).

    Sadly, the multiplayer seems borked.

Can anyone suggest a PSP game that plays like God of War or Dynasty Warriors?
I just starded playing Lord of Arcana, thinking that it did. Boy-howdy, does it not...in fact, unless you're seriously partial to grinding, I wouldn't suggest it...

There are one or two actual God of War for the PSP, I think.

Yeah, got all the God of War, Dante's Inferno and Dynasty Warriors games currently available for PSP in the west. Only one I'm missing that I Know of excepy DW Strikeforce 2, which only came out in Japan (and, presumably, Japanese, which I can't read). I just ebay'd Samurai Warriors, which is apparently similar, but there must be more out there...

You should check out YS 7. Good for hacky-slashy fun.

I'm currently in the middle of Deus Ex :HR, enjoying the shit out of the stealth and combat sections, but the bosses are pissing me off. For those in the industry, remember game design 101: unskippable sections that do not allow the use of most of your abilities fall under the category of "Not Fun".

Also just returned to WoW. I know, I know, its a time-suck, but I've got several friends playing with me in a guild, and the low level experience has been VASTLY improved from last time (four years ago).

    YS 7?

Nobody in the world agrees with me, but I loved Rengoku 2 on PSP. Fantastic little fighting dungeon crawler with a ton of combat customization options, lost in a sea of bad reviews that it really didn't deserve.

Hit a wall on Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. The one where you have to stalk The Banker through a debauch, talk about complicated.

I'm actually really enjoying the Space Marine multiplayer (for the most part). When the players on your team are actually using the classes and weapons tactically, it's pretty awesome. When they're blatantly ignoring how the game is balanced, and the other team is combining their talents properly, you get steamrolled over and over again and it's spectacularly frustrating.

    @ Ian Mayer

I wasted so many hours playing the original Driver and this new one is the first one to look like it may capture some of the same magic. I'm really looking forward to it...

For reasons that escape my understanding, I downloaded the leaked official Minecraft 1.8 update. And now I'm playing Minecraft again...
@Darkest: Apart from this wall, is Brotherhood any good? I was a bit a put off by the fact that it's still in Italy and doesn't seem like a real sequel, but I did really enjoy AC 1 and 2, so I'm torn over whether or not to pick this one up.

This is terribly lame, for my wife's birthday I got her a copy of Kirby's Epic Yarn, it is gorgeous. The effort they put into making it original far outweighs the childish aspect. It is great for kids, or anyone that just likes plain, old fashioned fun.

I haven't bothered with the pre-1.8 update, mostly so I can keep playing on the multiplayer server I use but also because I like my bugs squashed first. Having said that- how are you finding it? It sounds to me like the 1.8 update is part 1 of 2 in terms of bringing more Game to Minecraft, and while what they've got is nice, it won't really come into its own until the 1.9 update completes it. NPCs in the villages, the animal breeding/raising, exp having a use, etc. The new terrain goodies mean I'll happily generate a new world to play in, but 1.8 really seems like its biggest impact is going to be for the groundwork it lays for 1.9.

Amerikanjin: Toys R Us has Deus Ex for the 360 for the princely sum of $35.

    I JUMP IN IT.
