    Ahem, looks like there's a bit of confusion over Daddy Long Legs here.
    The name may refer to;

    Crane Flies, which are entirely harmless and non venomous, though spiders find them unpalatable and will not eat them,

    Spiders of the family Pholcidae, which are venomous and capable of giving a mildly painful bite and

    Harvestmen, which look a bit like long legged spiders but are non venomous and entirely harmless unless you put one down the back of your
    mate's big sister's dress and she punches you one (she was a big lass)

Despite beign completely made up, he was recently promoted to be Chairman of the Board.


    Yes, and somewhat amusingly, in the big GM rice fuckup when Bayer let modified crops go native, I believe there was some consternation on their part as it would become obvious that a lot of their rice wasn't even from the US...

    Captain Birdseye, on the other hand... Although I suppose he wasn't really a captain of anything.

    @Alan-I just wrote what I remember. Now I'm looking for some answers and it seems it's a recurring myth. Nevertheless, your story kind of adds up to the one about eating spiders without knowing:D
