If Americans weren't afraid of graphs like this one Herman Cain would have a lot harder time pushing his 9-9-9 plan.

You might need to scroll down a little to see the whole chart.

Ohio police kill 48 exotic animals – but wolf and monkey still on the loose

18 tigers and 17 lions shot dead by police after farm owner Terry Thompson released animals before shooting himself dead.

"It's like Noah's ark, like, wrecking right here in Zanesville, Ohio," said Jack Hanna, former director of the Columbus Zoo. "Noah's ark filled with tigers and lions and leopards and a few monkeys and whatever, and it crashes here and all of a sudden they're out there."

Gaddafi was supposedly recognized attempting to leave Sirte after the fall of the last pocket of resistance there, was wounded while resisting capture and died later of his wounds.

That's the NTC's story and they're sticking to it.

I was just thinking back to an article I remember reading in (I think) Loaded magazine, way back in the latter part of the '90s. Gaddafi had ceased to be perceived as a threat by almost everyone (at least publicly) and was filling his time organising beauty pageants and bikini contests (which was why Loaded was covering the story.) Makes me wonder which portrayal of him is the more accurate, the slightly bumbling plastic surgery obsessed old man, or the evil barbaric dictator. Maybe both.

I'm thinking both. I don't think he ever went soft as a evil dictator, consider him recently on TV saying he loves his people even while he butchers protesters in the street, just that he didn't have to be as evil a dictator at times and got to indulge in some personal/male fantasies.

    What next, the Magna Carta?

In the UK it used to be a fun tradition for bands to try to compete for the Xmas number one. Until Simon Cowell ruined it. We did, however, give him a bit of a spanking a couple of years back and got Rage Against the Machine there instead. That was good.

However, seeing as the Christmas number one and the charts in general are a bit of a wasteland for any interesting, unusual or alternative music, the band Zombina and the Skeletones have decided to try to stake a claim on the HALLOWEEN NUMBER ONE instead!

Go sign up to the Facebook campaign via their main page here:

Zombina and the Skeletones are a cross between the Misfits and the Pippettes. You will love them.

This is their most stonkingly good song:

    Raised in Hell

    Here are a few more:

    Dracula Blood

    Punk Rock Vampires

    This one's very sweet:

    Staci Stasis

Right. Declaration of self-interest. The 'Halloween Number One' thing was kinda my idea as I helped out with the XFactor Vs RATM thing and there's no way that could be done again as the stars would never align that way. But this could happen. And you should be listening to Zombina anyway. Si, Ariana, hope this is cool. Even that it merits its own thread, maybe? But I'll leave that one up to you. Cheers.

The Son of Africa claims a continent’s crown jewels - Pilger

Pilger is a moron obsessed with his anti-American conspiracy theories.

Take a look at his website some time, its filled with past stories which proved to be wildly inaccurate. Like his story abotu how the Republicans would win the 200g mid-terms in a landslide thanks to voter fraud.

Wow. 4 deferential cliches in one sentence, impressive. Considering he is twice Britain's Journalist of the Year, and has won multiple academy awards I think you should probably give him a little credit, he may be onto something. I don't think people who have this large a of body of work will be always correct, and making predictions about future events can always be problematic. Analyse the articles on their merit and move from there, but personal attacks don't help Discussion.

Anyone Who didn't see the Holy Flying Circus on BBC Four watch it on iplayer if you can, if you are into that sort of thing. Here is a clip from the original debate.

I'm so bummed about the "Lions and tigers and bears, oh my," that I can't even muster the effort to post wickedly ironic items tonight.

Makes me just want to flip through "Pride of Baghdad" and have a good cry.
Which also makes me feel like less of a man, but...the turn of the century and the economy and globalism and all has really already had its turn on that one.

Were the Academy awards for screen writing or direction?

I have analysed his articles on their merits BTW.

The one about the 2006 elections stated the Republican win as fact and remained on his website for months if not years.

Then there was the article about the comic which was about a reporter in the future modeled on Hunter S Thompson. You know the one - "Transformer". When you spend several thousand words bitching abour a work of ficton it doesn't seem an unreasonable requirement that you get its name correct.

Pilger's basic thesis - to the extent that he has one - is that somehow by sending roughly 20 soldiers a piece to four central African countries the US will induce or compel the government of those countries to allow the US to establish a permanent base there.

There's just one problem with that: the US already has around 1,000 troops deployed in various countries in Africa and has agreements to use bases in several more.

More than half of women are attracted to other women - and it gets more pronounced as they get older

Most women are naturally bi-curious when it comes to sex, a new report has discovered. And what's more, it becomes more pronounced the older they get.
In a study carried out by Boise State University found that out of a group of 484 heterosexual women, 60 per cent were sexually attracted to other women; 45 per cent had kissed a woman and 50 per cent had fantasies about the same sex.

Divers trapped underwater in pressurized chamber after support ship sinks in Persian Gulf

TEHRAN, Iran — A team of six Indian divers conducting underwater pipeline installation were believed trapped in a diving chamber nearly 200 feet underwater with dwindling oxygen supplies on Friday after their support ship sank in the Persian Gulf, Iranian officials said.

The divers were among 13 people, including five Iranians and eight non-Iranians, still missing after the Koosha-1, a diving support ship, went down in stormy seas Thursday afternoon, Iran’s semi-official Isna news agency reported. Out of 73 people on board, 60 had been rescued, Isna said.
