    Drawing the Human Figure from Memory
    INSTRUCTOR: TY TEMPLETON
    Learn the essential skills that will allow you to construct and render the drawn human figure from memory and create your own dynamic poses from imagination. Your learning process will be divided into three parts: the development of the working model mannequin, fleshing out the mannequin with appropriate musculature and features and finally, articulating the skin over the muscles in addition to placing clothing and drapery on the figure.
    Students of the comic book page, animation, storyboarding or illustration will be well served by the techniques learned in this course.

    Making a Splash: Successful Watermedia Techniques
    INSTRUCTOR: MARK THURMAN

    Making a Splash introduces students to gouache and watercolour where a variety of different watercolours and surfaces will be explored. Colour theory will be covered and students will be encouraged to develop their own visual themes including landscape, still life, cartoon, caricature, illustration and figurative subject matter. This course will be of interest to the fine artist, illustrator or animator looking to develop core painting skills in a flexible and versatile media.
    Instructor Mark Thurman is a celebrated children’s book illustrator and exhibited fine artist with more than 40 years professional experience.

    Studio Life Drawing
    INSTRUCTOR: GEORDIE MILLAR
    Whether you are sculpting, illustrating, animating, painting, designing for comic pages or just getting your feet wet to discover WHAT you would like to do with drawing, comprehension of methods and confidence in using them – while working in the studio from a life model – are the first tools you need to start with.
    In our relaxed and supportive studio atmosphere, students can work at their own pace and will have their particular needs addressed via direct tutoring as well as having the Instructor guide them through a range of exercises and approaches to drawing gesture, form, anatomy, character, measuring and handling a range of media.
    Our goal and guarantee is that by the end of this workshop, confidence in your drawing skills will have increased substantially and you will have had the chance to meet up with a great network of like-minded artists.

    Comic Book Bootcamp Level II

    Armed with the essentials learned in Level I, students can now move on to confidently demonstrating the skills necessary to write, pencil and ink your own stories and more importantly, be eligible to take part in our 2012 student publication. You must complete levels I and II in order to participate in our next student comic book anthology!

    Penciling the Comic Book Page
    INSTRUCTOR: LEONARD KIRK

    From initial concept to finished product, Penciling the Comic Book Page will cover all the steps needed to construct the professional penciled comic book page. Weekly classes will touch on everything including breaking down a comic book script into simple layouts, consideration of panel sizing and shape, word balloon placement, figure posing, general anatomy, perspective and expression – all the way to the finished penciled page.
