    @mercurial…nice colours choices.
    @evilgeorge..love the lines and very badass.
    @struthersneil….sweet. awesome perspective and love his solemn expression.
    @Dbed…I'd watch that if it was an 80's cartoon!!
    @paime77..nice sketchy lines.
    @-3-..nice and western-y.

    went less gun-toting but still absurd angle as the proprietor of the last comic book shop on the planet. Digital downloads?! Wha? Originally was going for a renegade graf artist angle but this seemed to come out of no where.

    @mojokingbee. I see someone besides me has decided to go for a funny angle instead of a six-gun-totin' gorilla. Your gorilla would make a great gimmick! The whole idea of a cowboy gorilla does have the danger of provoking all sorts of hilarity in people's minds.

    @dnewling..yep...just wanted to avoid the most obvious angle and didn't want to draw a gun.

    @mojokingbee Yes, I wanted a different angle too, and the inspiration for the spoof on the cowboy gorilla came pretty quickly. It must have been the whole idea of a cowboy gorilla sounding so absurd.

    EVERY TIME SOMEONE DESCRIBES SIX-GUN GORILLA AS "ABSURD" THE URETHRAL MAGGOTS GET FIDGETY.

    @ Horrible Warning Si

    Six-Gun Gorilla is absurd, but he's absurd in the classic Camus sense of the Absurd. I took that as the point of Struthersneil's submission. Because O'Neill is Absurd, he cannot be perceived on anything but the subconscious level by most other humans. However, those people open to and accepting of the Absurd can perceive him and from that tiny group he finds his occasional friends.

    Note that Urethral Maggots are especially drawn to sense of humour failures. It's like crack for them.

    Are we being philosophical on a thread about a gun-toting gorilla? I'm totally cool with that, I'm just wondering it that's what is actually happening.

    I don't know about being philosophical, but this is an area of fiction, especially, fantasy, sci-fi and horror fiction that I enjoy. The area of absurdist fiction. The idea of walking through your life and being hit with something completely outside your normal context, like a revolver-toting clothes-wearing gorilla. That's the coolest aspect of struthersneil's picture. It very deliberately functions as a point of view shot. You are the person futzing with his I-pad killing some time on the subway ride home. There's some kid and her dad, a punk girl and her boyfriend, some girl sitting next to you, but then you look up and see this gorilla dressed in functional, stained clothes sitting across from you holding a pistol. And you know he sees you, too.

    What happens next from that? How do "you" respond to this situation? I love stuff like that.

    Thanks, I couldn't put it better myself!

    But I've modified my replies to remove 'absurd.' Okay, warning heeded. Sorry, I didn't realise the whatsit-maggots were that discriminating.

    @gnilleps - that one really blew me away!

    I'm learning more about Photoshop through doing doing my own drawings here and looking at what others are doing. I take a long look at their pictures and try to figure out what Photoshop effects and functions they used to create them.

    Time out, people.

    Daddy Si was being less-than-serious about the whole "stop calling O'Neill absurd" thing. Daddy Si kinda hoped he wouldn't need to explain that.

    Let's all wring-out our seriousness-glands just a touch, loosen our sphincters, and get back to the fun, yes? O-kay.

    @gnilleps -- That's awesome! I'm a little surprised that no one beat you to that but at the same time, I have to admit that I wouldn't've thought of it.
