Dark Souls patch that nerfs Pyromancy, Fog Ring and Tranquil Walk of Peace as well as drastically improving item drops... is supposed to be out now, but of course Europe's PSN gets it last. Blah!

Damn Skyrim patch buggered up my morning as it steadfastly refused to load until I'd un-tweaked my tweaks. Am now in the process of re-tweaking. Am almost tweaked out.

Installed Skyrim this morning, then had to come to work. Can not focus.

I seem to be accidentally role-playing my Skyrim character pretty thoroughly. I made the khajiit cat thing, and I just realized spend an inordinate amount of time just jumping around like a retard catching butterflies or fish.

Serious Sam 3: BFE came out today and I'm now a happy person. I'm still early, so the enemy count is a bit light, but it shaping up quite nicely to be fun in all the ways Duke Nukem Forever forgot about.

...Are you kidding me? The Baldur's Gate series is still one of my favorite RPGs of all time (GO FOR THE EYES, BOO! GO FOR THE EYES!) and the Icewind Dale series isn't too far behind. That's a really good price.

Seriously. I played through all of the Baldur's Gate expansions and each of the characters gets a soliloquy at the end. Minsc's made me tear up, and not in the least because he concludes it shouting, "Evil, meet my sword! SWORD, MEET EEEEEEVVVVVVVIIIIILLLLLL!"

I am really impressed so far with Skyrim. Immersion is through the roof for me, especially given that they got rid of any sort of backstory for your character. That was one of the (very few) things that bugged me about the more recent Fallout's: too much backstory given to a character that is meant to be very flexible in playstyle and personality. In Skyrim, the entirety of your backstory is "you aren't from around here", which allows for me to play wildly different characters and have them feel like wildly different characters.

I'm running an Argonian magey type right now, playing him as a wandering scholar type and picking up interesting books whenever I find them. I have plans to roll up some sort of two-handed or otherwise melee based guy and play him basically like Aquaman off of Batman: The Brave and The Bold (which is a surprisingly fun series, by the way).

All in all, a definite thumbs up from me.

I play fighting games. I'm not bad at them, but I'm not even close to the level of many people online.

I liked Marvel Vs Capcom 3, but the matchmaking was so broken that I never got matched with people I stood even the slightest chance of beating.

Picked up the new King of Fighters XIII today. It's much more old-school, and it's a really complex system, but I think I really like it. We shall see.

If you're interested, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 has much better netcode and matchmaking.

I want Skyrim. SO MUCH. The only games the fella has been buying lately are all ones that I am somehow completely incapable of playing. Arkham City... I can't figure out fighting. I've never gotten a combo higher than, like, x5. And when I watch him rack up x70-gagillon in Joker's Funhouse, I feel clumsy. He just got WWE '12 today, and I just can't... I'm getting utterly beaten by Yoshi Tatsu. I got grapple and punch pretty much down, but that's not really wrestling, is it? I could be playing as Undertaker w/ a shining golden sword from the gods and still be getting beat.

    So, yeah. I want Skyrim.

@DJ - yeah, so I hear. Might give it a try in the new year. I just felt like the release of KoFXIII gave me an excuse to try something a bit different.

@brittanica It's available in Redbox, if you're looking for the console version.

Brittanica: It might help to think of the combat in the Batman Arkham series as a rhythm action game. While I haven't played City, the trick to keeping combos going in Asylum was to always be ready to interrupt attacks, and doing crowd control... I.e. always attacking the one that has the biggest chance of hitting you.

I am not playing any of these games ^^

I am playing 'Freedom Force vs The Third Reich'.
It is the best game ever. It's a bit like the old top-down GTA, only in 3d with SUPERHEROES, really really cheesy ones.

And here it is, the first one and 'Third Reich', on Steam, for £3.44
