Hey everyone! I'm writing an article about comics with unexpected twists, and I was wondering if I could get some opinions on if Freakangels had a twist (or an ending) that you didn't expect and what you expected when you first started to read it. Were you surprised by how it turned out? And if so, what surprised you?

For me, I think finding out that the Freakangels themselves caused the floor was shocking, even though in retrospect I think I should have seen it coming. And the end, of course, was also surprising (don't want to give any spoilers though so that's all I'll say) and also when they found out that only England was flooded and figured out how to fix it. And finding out that two of the guys were in love. THAT was unexpected.

What about for all of you?

To be brutality honest When i first heard that Warren Ellis had been writing an inspired tribute to John Wyndham Midwich Cuckoos i expected a lot of alternative lifestyle choices, addictive personality traits, swearing at the injustice of everything & cock jokes.

Freak Angels turned out to have all of these traits & so much more. It knocked me for six to see how the style & mood of his work has grown. It's obviously a much more thoughtful story. That makes me wish it didn't have to end so soon, would love to see this in novel form one day maybe but who knows

The thing for me i liked a lot in this story was the feeling of coming home, to a completely realistic environment experiencing the fantastic & undergoing a constant violent change that in the end is for the better.

Freak Angels being a bloody good tribute to John Wyndham's style was unexpected I didn't think the two writers could be more different if they tried

    Go figure!

Well as i live in London and would love to see this country purged it is right up my street.I came with a open mind as Uncle Warren is in my mind one of the best writers this country has to offer.I put him right up there with Michael Moorcock.
I will have to digest my mind stuff at the moment and come back to this so there you go.
