Hey guys! Ever been in one of those situations where you don't want to answer a question / the topic has become too personal and you just want the subject to change? Yeah, I think everyone has. What's your best way to get people to start talking about something else?
I believe John Rogers (now of Leverage fame) referred to the collective uncuriousness of the cast of a mystery arc driven show as 'You Uncurious Motherfuckers.'
Being unable to pin down my attention, is still my number one bugbear, because irrespective of how much I want to do something, or believe it's important, or that it means a lot to me, I don't seem to be able to start things, or stick to them, once they are started, and often will find that I've totally detracted myself, with no actual results (even my conversations bear evidence to this) This is further compounded by my ability to become fixated with things, at terribly short notice, often for protracted periods ( I often lose days doing completely irrelevant things) I've always had this issue, but am really, actually, finally sick of it. Has anyone ever practiced, or does anyone know of any methods of stretching and reinforcing attention? I'm ok at work, because my work actively pulls my focus in, the nature of it means I can't actually go wandering off daydreaming, but in all the other aspects of my life, I'm winding up with such a backlog of things to do, I can't make any headway with any of them.
@VertigoJones Have you thought about meditation? A fellow Whitechappeller previously recommended 'Wherever You Go, There You Are' as an introduction to mindfulness meditation. Definitely not a quick fix, but might be worth exploring as it's meant to help improve attention.
Failing that, does anyone know anything about Modafinil?
#PhotoContest -- #1 is my first choice followed very closely by #3. (Leaving the colour alone on #1, maybe seeing if you can get the flower a little more vivid on #3 but leaving the hand the same colour / tone.)
I'm gonna be difficult and say I love 2 the best. Bot as far as what wins a photo contest? Hmmm. Go with t he popular vote here, I guess. 3 is pretty nice too.
I like #1 the best; it's really beautiful. However, #3 may match the theme of the contest more closely, and is also wonderful. I agree with Warped Savant that it might benefit from making the flower a bit more vivid. If you submit #1, though, don't change a thing. It's done.
I say number three. One has awesome colours but three's got some emotion in it. I don't think the flower needs to be more vivid, the muted tones really suit the picture.
