Hey Whitechapel! It's been nearly 4 months since the end of Freakangels, and there's been a strange hole in life every Friday when a new episode used to go up. It's taken a lot of adjustment for me to get used to, but I've been working as fast as I can on new work!

Today, it's past noon on a Friday and I thought this would be an appropriate time to go live with a new project, The Firelight Isle!

    The Firelight Isle Promo Image

The Firelight Isle is going to be a web-and-print comic like Freakangels, but doesn't yet have the awesome backing of a publisher that allowed me to churn out 6 pages of Freakangels a week! So, I'm going to be working on it one day a week, rain or shine, money or none, and hopefully will have an update each week with my progress. There's much more info available on TheFirelightIsle.com, so please check it out :) You can also follow along on twitter and facebook, and I'll be putting updates on The Firelight Isle Development Blog until the comic itself is ready to go live. There are already a few entries up with artwork and some details on research!

The last thing to say is that whilst I'm happy to finish this no matter what it takes, it's a big enough project that it will take decades at my current pace. If you like the look of the project, you can back it on IndieGoGo, where I've got a crowd funding campaign, and there are other funding ideas on the website. If anyone has any further ideas, or wants to help out the project in a way I hadn't imagined, please let me know :D

    Hope you all enjoy!
    Paul.

Great news and I'm already looking forward to it. I'll be interested to see how the crowd funding thing does for you, I've seen some very interesting projects getting funding this way. Good luck sir.

What, no link to the incredibly awesome concept piece on your web site? :)

I'm looking forward to this greatly, by the way. Spare pennies have been donated.

    Nice. Godspeed.

People: on the grounds that you are awesome and have excellent judgement, you will bathe - BATHE - Paul's new project in the torrent of your affection and support. Otherwise you're just not worth a damn.

    Bookmarked. This looks amazing Paul!

(Monies will certainly be forthcoming when I actually have some)

Looks gorgeous and I'm happy to support via Indiegogo.
Sorry I missed seeing you at Thought Bubble last week.

It looks tremendous, I can't wait to see it develop.

Bathed it. With a sponge. In a hottub in the sunset.

    There was some crying.

Hey! Thanks all for the support and general bathing, everything's squeaky clean now!
The campaign's going great so far! Over 10% of the goal raised in the first few days, which is fantastic. However, I know this is the easy bit, keeping up a stream of backers is going to be the hard part, so any and all promotion you can give would be a massive help!
I'm going to be releasing new material and pushing the campaign every friday, so watch this space! In the mean-time, I've embedded that promo image that James Cunningham linked in the first post above!
If you've got any questions about the story or format, or any issues with the website & general setup, just let me know :)

Indiegogo is counting too slow. This needs a Bleedingcool article or something to bring it proper attention so it can get written and drawn and I can read it.

@James Cunningham Indeed, I figured I'd get a funding rush that would then drop off, so I'm pacing the campaign and trying to release something new every week, doing a promo-push every Friday.

This firday I've got two new posts in the development blog, plus a secret post for anyone who has backed the campaign on IndieGoGo! I'm also trying to get in contact with as many news sites as possible, so if any of you run a blog or news site or know someone who does, please get in touch! In the mean-time, thanks hugely to everyone who has contributed, I already see the campaign as a fantastic success since I've designed it in such a way that the money can go into the project as soon as the campaign is over regardless of whether we reach the target.

I can't afford to back this I'm afraid as for the foreseeable future my outgoings far exceed my income, but I've blogged about it, for what it's worth.

    @Kradlum
    It's most appreciated! ^_^ Thankyou!

Quick bump of this thread! Only two weeks to go until the end of the Indie GoGo campaign.
I've been working away on an animated trailer for a good few weeks now in order to have some publicity out for the end of the campaign. Please pass it around and tweet about it etc!

Now I'm sad that it won't be animated... That was a great trailer.

s---t! I remember you mentioning your animation background before-very impressed, looking forward to the books ...

That's fantastic Paul. Embedded on my blog (for what that's worth).

The map geek in me can't help but notice that the island looks a lot like Antarctica :)
