If you like that sort of thing, new Marvel-centric Spurrier series begins tomorrow (being Wednesday 6th December). Seek thee the X-CLUB, and indulge in tasty Science-based superheroing futurgasm, quantum snark and bastards with the uncanny mutant ability to Assume You're An Idiot At Fifty Paces.

Bear minimum of spandex punching guaranteed.

That's an interesting dynamic of characters you've got to play with there, Daddy Si. Looks Solid. :)

I saw this popping up with your name on it. Bravo, Si!

Already on my pull list. The minimal spandex and punching is extra-appealing. My head is stuffed far enough up my own arse to admit that superhero comics are more of a turn off these days.

I'll be buying this, but would you mind reassuring me on a point?

When New Mutants came out a year or two ago I picked it up and enjoyed the hell out of it for the first 8(or so) issues. It wasn't anything particularly revolutionary, but it revived some favorite characters and treated them with respect, with a good first storyline giving me hope that the series was going to be one to stick with. Then it had a crossover, which was annoying but these things happen. Then it had another issue, and another crossover. Adding injury to insult, I had absolutely no idea what happened in that last issue because it was 100% incomprehensible without buying every single issue of the series it was crossing over with. I've got no idea what happened next because I dropped the book like a stone. As you might guess, that left a pretty bad taste in my brain.

Please tell me you're being given space to do your own thing. This looks like a load of fun, and I want to enjoy it rather than have editorial decisions make me regret having anything to do with an X-book.

It spins off from the ongoing Regenesis arc, but it's been constructed in such a way that if you're not balls-deep in continuity you won't even notice it.
