When New Mutants came out a year or two ago I picked it up and enjoyed the hell out of it for the first 8(or so) issues. It wasn't anything particularly revolutionary, but it revived some favorite characters and treated them with respect, with a good first storyline giving me hope that the series was going to be one to stick with. Then it had a crossover, which was annoying but these things happen. Then it had another issue, and another crossover. Adding injury to insult, I had absolutely no idea what happened in that last issue because it was 100% incomprehensible without buying every single issue of the series it was crossing over with. I've got no idea what happened next because I dropped the book like a stone. As you might guess, that left a pretty bad taste in my brain.

Please tell me you're being given space to do your own thing.
