#sugargliders

Does anyone have any experience with sugar gliders? My boyfriend inherited one when his ex girlfriend got from from some guy on craigslist, and then abandoned it here when she moved out. He's since been taking care of it but really doesn't like it, so for the past year we've been dating I hated it, too - it smells, barks at night, pees on you when you hold it, etc. etc.

Anyway, a couple weeks ago someone interested in it was asking questions about sugar gliders and I took it upon myself to actually do some research on them. Since then, i've been actually going through the bonding process with little stinky and now I'm actually very fond of him. Needless to say, the person is no longer interested and now that I actually like it, I want to keep it.

Thing is, his cage is SCARCE. It has a running wheel, some branches, the food tray and feeding bottle, and his pouch. That's it, nothing else. I want him to get some more stimulation, so I was wondering what kinds of toys they actually like. I've been looking online and I've already gotten a few ideas, but some of the things people sell as "glider toys" look outright stupid, and to me looks more like a thing that makes the cage look more colorful than a thing that a sugar glider actually likes to interact with.

So, my question is, does anyone here have experience with sugar gliders as pets, and if so, what toys do they actually use?

I followed the links from Google with advice on getting rid of this, it's likely they will have info on your problem. Further investigation showed that there were several hacked htaccess files in various wordpress directories. There were also a large number of randomly named php files that had been added to the site over the last week, so I went through each directory one by one and deleted anything that I knew I hadn't modified. I also looked at log files to see where traffic was coming from, it showed a bunch of russian sites hitting these spurious php files shortly before Aunty Ariana disabled my embedded images on here.

3) I cleaned up any files and folders that were redundant - I had several old wordpress and gallery installations that I thought I had deleted but were in fact still there.

4) I changed all the FTP, Wordpress, and main account passwords, and checked to see if anything had been amended in their directories or looked untoward (ie spam comments).
5) Ran several malware checks on my own PC, it turns out that someone else who's site I'm hosting had a trojan on their PC so that's where the compromise might have occurred.
6) Submitted the site for retest via Webmaster tools and the next day all was fine... have been watching it like a hawk though to see if anything else nasty happens.

But my site's just a vanity project and it really doesn't matter if I break it trying to kill spammers - I would be inclined to seek more expert advice if yours is integral to making a living!!!!

I have identified a handful of corroded resistors and one fusible resistor that tests open and picked up replacements. That part is really just lego. More tricky will be the traces. The board is not warped or delaminated at all, but there is a lot of surface corrosion in the traces and many of them are fine and intricate.

I've heard tell that a metallic paint pen can be used to repair small gaps in traces. Is this true? Has anyone done it? Any particular brand if so, or a method of picking a brand?

 #sugargliders
Oh yeh. Someone had to mention exotic pets. Way to get me to creep out of the woodwork. *cough* anyhow. For cage stimulation, you might want to add more places for the little fellow to crawl and climb and cling. I'd suggest keeping away from the small animal section of the pet store, and walking over to the parrot section, and looking there, for the non-cement based/non scratchy perches that come with a variety of widths, colors, and shapes and sizes. Back in the small pets area they might also have a small soft tent/hiding spot made out of fabric that it might like to hide in. As far as toys for it to interact with/ 'play' with, I'm a bit stumped, as most people I've known who had gliders tended to just keep the pair in a rather tall cage, with a wide variety of perches/clinging/gliding spaces. Don't make the cage too crowded, and don't forget that 'gliding' space.

 #mirroringRealObjects

Some time back I was doing a bit of sculpting and managed to produce one half of a dragon's head (about 7cm long) that I was really happy with. Unfortunately this sudden attack of competence passed as quickly as it arrived and left me completely unable to sculpt the other side of it's head to anywhere near the same standard. It has been sitting on a shelf ever since, glaring accusingly at me as if to say "fix my face you bastard!".

Thanks to the influence of the virtual world where duplicating, reflecting and mirroring 3D objects is as simple as clicking a button I've got a pervasive, nagging feeling in my gut that there should be some easy way to produce a mirrored copy of the head - but I can't for the life of me figure out how. The best idea I could come up with would be to somehow scan the sculpt as a 3D model, do all the reversing work digitally and send the result off to somewhere like Shapeways - but I have no idea how much that'd cost and don't know how I'd get access to a 3D scanner to begin with.

So, can any of the brilliant and creative folk here point me in the direction of some easy, simple solution well known to sculptors but obscure to the rest of us? Or will I just have to spend the next three years practicing my sculpting until I get good enough to do the job properly without shortcuts? ;D

The only way to copy a physical object without scanning it to make a mold and cast a copy, but that is also expensive, messy, takes time and skill to do well, and in the end only produces an exact copy... so if you have only a left side, and you do a mold, you can only cast a second left side, not a mirror image right.

Something has to translate your half into it's mirror image. It's either going to be your brain and hands (sculpting the other half) or a computer doing math (3D Scan).

Every dish had a fancy label to show who had made it, so all involved got a chance to show off their culinary skills. It also meant that the other guests knew exactly who to congratulate, and it made for a really nice atmosphere after the meal, with everyone showering praise on the desert makers. Of course, there are a tonne of pitfalls to this approach, but I can say that when it works, it REALLY works.

Suspect you people can answer this better than I (I don't even know what "Evolvit" is). Quoth she:

“[My company] wants a safety-net in case our internet connection at work suddenly goes down [as sometimes happens]. For instance, we'd want a second super-cheap setup ready and waiting via an analogue line (as we don’t receive cable here) that can be immediately switched to if needed... Ideally we'd get another line via another supplier, and if one goes down Evolvit switch us to the other. Does anyone have advice on a) how possible/easy it is to ‘switch’ like that, and b) whether there are any recommended cheap providers for the second line. Also, whether we need BT to install the damn analogue cable.”

 #UKinternetproviderhelp

I can't speak to which provider to use, but I do this sort of thing quite a bit in the States. We call that "Internet load balancing" or "redundant access." In an ideal world, both connections plug into the same firewall. For this to happen one ideally has a firewall with "dual WAN" or "backup line" capability, such as the Sonicwall line of firewalls. Most of your off-the-shelf units from retail outfits will not have this capability.

Your best option in this scenario is probably using a wireless Internet card of some type. These can typically be obtained for a low flat or prepaid basis in the States. On a unit such as the Sonicwall TZ190, there is a slot specially provisions to receive a 3G/4G wireless Interent card.

Why have both connections on the same device? So you can seamlessly switch between them. There's a bit more invovled than this, but it is a lot better than having a second device sitting in a closet and physically switching to it ("cold standby") in my experience.

TL;DR: Ideally what you want is a router/firewall that accepts a "wireless WAN" 3g/4g card from some cheap prepaid provider.

SO i'm thinking Site Launch party. The likely hood of me actually having enough money left over when the site build is done plus advertising yadda-ect. BUT More likely in my price range would be non city Pennsylvania, and my site builder also does promoting/DJ stuff so getting a deal and help would be no problem locally.
Or Should I hold out pinch all of my pennies try and work something out with Fixe Magazine for New York??

It would be easier to get most of the models to the local venue. Would have to rent a hotel room in NY and find someway to pay for rooms for the girls as well.
More exposure in NY working with Fixe Magazine to help with advertising ect. (yes i know Fixe isn't big but they may be willing to foot some of the bill to be "the one" helping launch the site)

I don't think drawing tablets tend to have 512MB of RAM or SD slots.

For $150 you're going to be looking more in the eReader Tablet range, instead of Actual Tablet range, and the Nook Colour is probably the closest to those specs, and can be pretty easily hacked to run stock Android builds (though with the most recent software update doesn't necessarily need to be). The Kindle FIre is higher specced in the processor/RAM department, but doesn't have expandable storage, since Amazon is really keen on people getting on board their cloud services.

 #tablet

All "tablets" at the 150 or below range are cheap shit. The Nook Color is an okay color eReader that does some tablet-like things, but it is in no way even close to an actual tablet computer. The only way to make it even get near that is to root it and run a more standard version of the android os and really, does your wife want to fiddle with buggy custom android builds or does she want to use a tablet? I have no direct experience with the Kindle Fire, but I suspect it is much the same, without the android.

You cannot buy a real, functional, tablet for less than $500. You don't want to buy anything that calls itself a tablet that costs less than that. It will not do what you want it to do, and you'll then have wasted the money you spent on it.

Honestly, and this is coming from a lifetime Windows user who hates the apple ecosystem and is not a fan of deranged apple fandom, if you want a tablet, save up and get an ipad. The ipad works wonderfully, and is still the format defining machine. If you can't buy an ipad right now, just don't buy a tablet. Wait. Either you'll be able to afford one later, or someone will come out with a decent non-ipad tablet (this second thing hasn't happened yet).
