Thanks, alternately I was thinking along the lines of "Damn, more whorebaggery from Jason." Since it is self-promotion.
  2.  (10398.83)
If you wanted it to be a verb it would become "whorebagging" as in "Beamish is busy whorebagging how hot he is by posting pictures again."

Taphead, if you want something that's not a bead, the google keyword you're looking for is "cabochon" -- if you don't mind the disc having a hole through the edges (not through the flat middle, I'm guessing), your problem might be that you're searching for cm, when most supply shops are going to use mm. Although 40mm *is* a titch large, you'll have a lot wider variety in the 30mm range, or if you're all right moving to more natural "not solid black".

For instance: 30mm cabochon (fits in one of these for attaching to a watch band) or 37mm natural bead.

    #MakingaTOC

Ok...I'm trying to make a Kindle version of a book. I feel like I may be making this more complicated than it has to be, but I'm not sure how the Table of Contents feature in Word works...is there a way to mark the stuff I want to be in the table with quick styles and then have it reference those styles as what goes into the TOC? Or do I have to format everything differently so that it works with the default way that Word does a TOC? Google isn't really giving me a satisfactory answer on this.

    1) Are you transferring it to your Kindle as a Word document or are you converting it to a mobi file first?
    2) If you're keeping it as a Word file, I have no idea. (I've never tried putting an MS Word file into mine.) If you're converting it to a mobi file then it should auto generate the TOC based on the heading styles.
    3) If you want, I'm perfecting willing to help with lay-out, separate chapters, etc. Let me know if you want me to do this, fire me an e-mail (see bio), and I should be able to get it back to you within a couple of hours (depending on when you send it, how quickly I realize you sent it, etc.). NOTE: If it's something that is your own, private thing, I promise you that I won't keep a copy of it unless you say I'm allowed. I won't read it, copy it, re-distribute it, and I'll delete all of the files from my computer and e-mail if you want me to.

Neil, you are a gentleman and a scholar. I've emailed you. Anything you can do to help (even if it's just advice because I've made such a damn mess of the thing already) would be amazing. Pertinent details are in the email, let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks again.

Got it. Working on it now.
I'm going to justify all of the text, I'll have each author as a Heading 1 with their stories as a Heading 2 (I find that looks really nice for the TOC that will appear at the back of the book), I'll have a similar set up for the TOC at the beginning of the book (I'm pretty sure I can do that)... I'll make a note of the various things that I do and let you know via e-mail.
    1) Right now the paragraphs aren't indented. Do you want me to figure out how to indent them? (There will be a small space between each paragraph)
    2) Do you want the different fonts or is it okay if they're all the same? (So far I've only noticed them at the beginning and, to be honest, I'm not sure if they'll show up differently on the Kindle or not.)

I'll e-mail other questions as I come across them.

    Awesome.
    1) It's not a big deal if they are not indented (especially if that is harder to do), just need to be able to tell where the paragraphs break.
    2) It's fine if the fonts are the same, I believe that's how I had them originally, but they got changed in the trying to get the auto TOC to work debacle.

Ok the project really isn't a secret, so of you know what I'm up to others will be all WTF but do not need to necessarily know to help answer the question.

I"m thinking entirely too far ahead for this but it is an attractive idea i'm bouncing around in my head (many lulz about the puns...) SO i'm thinking Site Launch party. The likely hood of me actually having enough money left over when the site build is done plus advertising yadda-ect. BUT More likely in my price range would be non city Pennsylvania, and my site builder also does promoting/DJ stuff so getting a deal and help would be no problem locally.
Or Should I hold out pinch all of my pennies try and work something out with Fixe Magazine for New York??

It would be easier to get most of the models to the local venue. Would have to rent a hotel room in NY and find someway to pay for rooms for the girls as well.
More exposure in NY working with Fixe Magazine to help with advertising ect. (yes i know Fixe isn't big but they may be willing to foot some of the bill to be "the one" helping launch the site)

I apologize if this is stretching the definition of the kind of "help" that is allowed, but ... it's rare that I get any contact from my family, and a cousin of mine has just asked that I spread the word about a student of hers from Virginia who has gone missing in NYC. If any of you would be so kind as to post, or retweet, or otherwise spread the word, OR if you have any ideas where I could otherwise post this to get the most possible visibility, please let me know.

@Rachael:I reckon asking for help for something as serious as someone missing is a good example as to what this thread can be used for...and it's great to see people step up.

    #TABLET

My wife is looking for a new tablet to consume her Christmas monies. She doesn't want to spend more than $150 and I don't want to get her screwed over by cheap shit. Any recommendations? My opinion is that it has to have at least 512mb ram and, at least, a MicroSD card for memory expansion.

    Thanks in advance.
