It's already happening, as The Line Islands made the hop three hours ago. No reports of eschatonic events, so let it keep moving steadily westward.

Happy New Year, my weird electronic family. May yours be better than this one, regardless of how 2011 went.

As for myself, I'm going to do my damndest to remember this motto in 2012:
Houston, we don't have a problem. We have a plan.

    Love,
    Risto.

All right. Year's work is done, the bloggery about this year is done, ready to head out for a party.

Thank you, all of you magnificent matriphiles of Whitechapel - this community has been a great source of great conversations, ideas, encouragement and new friends during this last year.

    Upwards and onwards!

New year's eve in Amsterdam traditionally involves irresponsible behaviour with explosives in a highly crowded setting. Normally I can't get enough of it but having blown a hole in my friends roof last year I will be trying to scale it back a little. Still with just over half an hour to go, I 've managed to source at least one of the baddest of badboy bangers. Let the countdown begin!

New year? Bah! Just an arbitrary point in the Earth's orbit. I watched Stephen Fry on TV and went to bed at 10:00. Bah humbug! ;D

Running off to a party fairly soon with some of the fine, fine folks from my last job. Going to call/be called by a certain lovely lady whom you all may know. Going to get very, very drunk, and kick 2011 pre-November directly in the balls several, several, several, SEVERAL times.

    2012 will be better.

I spent the run up to the new year with some delightful people of my acquaintance and getting a medical consult with Dr Whisky.

'12 will be better because I'm going to make it better even if the Julian Calendar has to bleed for it to happen.

    I have plans, such plans.

I'd like to make Niche Comics profitable for one.

I'm currently listening to my neighbors fire their guns in the air, and will soon go out with friends in time for the last little bit of 2011. Happy New Year's, y'all! Here's to enjoying the hell out of 2012 (which some of you lucky bastards are already doing).

Said it before, I'll say it again: 2012 will be our year.

Happy 2012! Can't wait until the Ragnarok Party later this year where it will be revealed that 9/11 was an inside job (just had two loosen up two essential screws), Obama is a Commie Muslim Pinko with no birth certificate (because he is the product of undivine fertilization), the moon landing was faked (really was produced in a soundstage on Io), and Kennedy was assassinated by his own lizard person kin (who also created AIDS).

Goddamn. I had one of the most fun parties I've been to in ages. Started it with ripping my clothes off and hitting the sauna like a red headed stepchild, then drifted to talking about genre literature and writing, while sipping some wine and the hostess absinthe. Suddenly a wild cosmologist appears! "So, do you think that in 50 years dark matter and dark energy will be seen as phlogiston?" Enter a very interesting lecture about the subject that finally fucking gave me the key concepts in an understandable form. Sip some more absinthe. Profit.

Quite the step sideways from the times of cheap beer, mage battles with roman candles and fucking shit up while drunk during the new year's party. Got to say that I'm a bit wistful about one thing: we never quite got the balls to do mechwarrior battles with fireworks. As in, strapping two of these on our shoulders and and pretending we are Mad Cats.

Yes, even in the hooligan years me and my pals were geeks :P

    Sorry to hear that, man.

Could have been worse. Me and the lady had a bit of a fight (pretty much my fault) and we ended up not going anywhere.

Well, she went to a meeting and met up with her sponsor, and that's a plus. Way better then getting trashed.

We were talking again by the end of the night, so all is not lost.

    Thanks, though.

Didn't have too great a New Years. My normal plans with best friend weren't going to happen because she was taking that night moving in with her boyfriend. She later texted me saying those plans fell through and she wished we could have done something. Sucks because even if she gave me some notice it wouldn't have happened. A horrible stomach due to some curdled egg nog and a painful lip rash (NOT contagious) brought on by anxiety over something the doctor told me saw to it that I would be spending new years in my pyjamas at home. When the ball dropped my dad, in a kind of a grouchy mood, refused to join in on the toast. I later watched an episode of Fringe with my mother and went on to have a pretty restless sleep, dream of a Scorpion jumping up my back and stinging me aside.

The only real highlight was hearing from Alan, who said some very sweet words.

Today is looking better. I spent the past four hours in bed with a mug of tea reading, jumping between two books. Currently have some of my dad's chicken noodle wonton soup and getting ready to go for a walk.

I was in charge of photographing my New Year's party (I volunteered) and at one point the camera got turned around on me.

A penguin hat had arrived at my party.

i really, REALLY dislike hogmanay. i get very distant and mean at this time of year (xmas new years and my birthday within 2 weeks of each other, i am not one for celebrations) and i wish i could change that. so i stay in and hide. the other half goes and has fun.

i had a very up and down year. i plan on changing a lot this year. more music, more learning, find a new job, i haven't brewed since the brewdog thing so there is that...

just be more open. be more me

DorkMuffin -- I can't remember right now, but you're not in New York are you? I recognize the other girl in the pictures and the guy in the last one looks like my buddy Dan. (But I'm pretty sure his earlobes are connected differently.)
