Double Fine Adventure has gathered over $1.2m at this point, and I think it'll hit, at a minimum, $3m by the end of it's fundraising cycle next month. Though I really hope that I'm undershooting with that and it'll be much, much, ridiculously higher.

So since Tim Schafer and Double Fine are gonna make a trillion dollars from this Obsidian is now tossing out the idea to their fans of what they would like to pay to play.

My dreams of an Alpha Protocol 2 now have a .00009% of becoming a reality!!!!!

    Let's see...

Still playing Star Wars The Old Republic, still loving it. Ditto for City of Heroes.

Tried Skyrim, and it just wasn't my cup of tea. I know the game has fans here, so I'll just leave it at that. I'll be turning it in tomorrow for store credit towards getting Final Fantasy XIII-2.

Picked up Total War Shogun 2 and Portal 2 in the steam sale, haven't had a chance to try either yet.

Got a review copy of UNSTOPPABLE GORG, which is utterly fantastic 1950's cheesy sci-fi tower defense. I'm also in the beta for "Warlock" from Paradox, which is to Civilization V what Master of Magic was to Civ 1. It's still rough, but the concepts are solid, and the engine seems good so far.

Also got a review copy of the "You Monster" DLC for Defense Grid: The Awakening (more Tower Defense!), which is a Portal 2 tie-in, and absolutely fantastic stuff.

Keeping in the Tower Defense theme -- anyone here besides me play Kingdom Rush? I'll admit I'm addicted.

James : 1 million is not a "ridiculous amount" for game development. Really, games are freaking expensive to make on current platforms.

What I meant was it's a ridiculous amount to raise by crowd funding, not for game development. And then they went and blew that total away in under a day. I'm really looking forward to seeing the final total on this.

I got a review copy of Pineapple Smash Crew and have gone through a few levels. Not a shred of story to be seen and I'm sure the difficulty is on the way, but it's still good mindless fun. Things go boom! :)

@andycon - I'm almost certain SEGA own the rights to the AP IP. So whilst it's not completely implausible, I guess Obsidian would have to buy the rights back first before they could even start development.

I really want something top-down, turn-based and non-fantasy from Obsidian. In my heart of hearts I want them to make Van Buren as it was originally intended... But I don't think that's very likely to happen.

Late to the party, but I am playing Assassin's Creed II and absolutely LOVING it. I finished the first one as quickly as I could, because I wasn't really enjoying the repetitive quests, but I have that continuity-OCD where I need to do things in order. :p

But so far AC2 improves on the original in almost every sense. There are so many fun little quests to do that I sometimes have a hard time stopping. I have Brotherhood and Revelations, but I think I'll wait to play them, as I worry that the repetitive nature will come back if I plow through them all at once.

Is Final Fantasy XIII-2 any good? I think we've all discussed at length the pros/cons of the first one. I'm tempted, but I think I'm going to wait for a GOTY/Greatest Hits package somewhere down the line.

It is entirely possible that I was up until 3 AM playing AssCreed:Revel multiplayer last night. It's really fun! I haven't played any of the Revelations story yet, as I haven't finished Brotherhood, but the player population is much larger for Revelations, and the tiny bit of story they give in multiplayer doesn't spoil anything.

I've kinda stalled out on Brotherhood. I think when I return to it, I am going to have to repress my completionist nature. The whole Ezio/Renaissance setting is starting to wear out its welcome, and it really isn't the compelling part of the story for me (though I love the actual gameplay of it).

As much as I love the AC games, i find it pretty annoying that it has taken three games to tell Ezio's story. It'd be one thing if the series was JUST based around him, but since we are following Desmond's family line, we have like 500 years more to cover until he get to the present.

That said, my Catholic upbringing did allow my father and I immense pleasure in being able to kill the Borgias one by one.

i played just the demo (so take that as you will) but i didnt like it at all. the paradigm shift thing was just annoying and setting up different 'monster decks' was not as cool as i hoped. im sure that aspect at least gets better when you are approaching high levels, but whatever.

it didnt feel like an FF to me (i generally only like 1-7)

    andycon:

I'm getting the same thing, Ezio was great for one game, but now the storyline sort of demands something new. I can get it from the game designers' part, they don't perhaps have the resources to start the world building all over again, but meh... :/

Add me to the masses that are tired of Ezio. I have Brotherhood and mechanically, it's great, but I'm really looking forward to a vastly different setting now.

March is going to be absolute madness for me. XCOM, Mass Effect 3, Spec Ops: The Line and I've started to consider getting Silent Hill: Downpour as well. Not sure if I can afford them all right away though.

Has there been mention of Binding of Isaac on here? Fabulous game. Simple if difficult.

It's a basic dungeon crawler by the Super Meat Boy guys channeling Johnen Vasquez. The levels dynamically generate, and depending on the items you get over the course of your playthrough it can be a very different experience.

    Heartily recommended.

XCOM. Now there's a title that brings back (fond) memories. Lucked out and got a super sweet Steam deal, $5 for all the previous titles.

@Solario: I'm uncertain of the quality of Silent Hill: Downpour, but I will buy it regardless and hope it captures some of the atmosphere of the earlier games. Speaking of the earlier ones, I believe Silent Hill 2, 3 are being released in an HD package same as Ico/Shadow of the Colossus, and MGS.

I got Final Fantasy XIII-2 over the weekend, and sat down to play it for the first time tonight.

So far, not bad. The paradigm system is back, which I admit I rather liked, but I'm seeing some nice improvements and refinements from XIII. The voice acting is superb, the main characters interesting and likable, and there's nothing to make me want to throw my controller against the wall. The only odd point is a bit in the script, where one minor character makes some rather odd intuitive leaps about the nature of the threat facing your tiny village. Uh, how did you *know* this was a temporal anomaly? Got a tachyon scanner in your pocket or something? A minor quibble, though.
