Journey is out today on the PSN. Anyone picked it up yet?
  1.  (10421.362)
I did, and it's gorgeous. I haven't had a chance to beat it yet, thanks to being busy and being way behind on my writing, but I'm a fair way in and loving it. Journey is unapologetically an art game, more concerned with the experience than any particular gameplay systems, but the exploration of its world feels wonderful.

And oh look! Wasteland 2 is fully funded. Woo!

Hell yes. Watched my girlfriend play it last night and we both had tears streaming down our faces by the end. As close to a perfectly conceived game as I've ever seen.

Just finished the first Mass Effect game. I felt good about the decisions I made and the pacing of that game was a joy to play through.

And now on to the second one. :P

    Finished Mass Effect 3.

The ending is brilliant and I've formed a pretty cohesive argument as to why I think it's an example of exemplary story telling.

But I'll wait until oldhat gets through the next two games instead of ruining it.

I am doing some major house cleaning and I am finally getting rid of a stack of old PC games that has been sitting upstairs. I'd love to get rid of the whole lot of stuff and be done with it, and I figured somebody here might want before going the Craigslist route. If anybody wants a box of random stuff to arrive in their mail soon, let me know. It's everything from Old X-wing vs.Tie Fighter to Dawn of War to the first Neverwinter Nights and all its expansions. Anybody interested?

INVINCIBLE M... Thankyou! you are one of the few people i know who agree that it was amazing

I'm still on Mass Effect 2.

    And it's really good.

It's "literally play for nine hours straight, only pausing briefly to eat" good. Which happened Friday night.

Also, not-really-spoilery video that nevertheless shows a late-game moment with Mordin, and my... unimpressed Shepard.

@InvicibleM & Alastair: Glad to know there are other people out there that like Mass Effect 3's ending as much as I did. Though I figure if there was any place that would have people that appreciate a good literary ending, Whitechapel would be it.

Thanks for the recommendation. Sounds like I'll be picking it up as soon as I have a free day!

MORDIN!! The best. Just the best.

I'm desperate for a proper discussion about the ME3 ending, sans fan hysteria. I didn't hate it buuuuut I dunno guys, it's certainly not flawless.

*waits patiently for oldhat to finish her game-a-thon*

My partner was just telling me that there has been a lot of online drama with fans demanding that the ending be changed. I'm still getting through ME3 so now I'm really curious to know how it ends.

One guy has reported them to the FTC claiming it's not the ending he was 'promised'.

My word gamer entitlement is geting on my tits at the moment.

It doesn't deserve the hullabaloo, it's a beautiful game regardless and has some genuinely funny/touching/tense moments to it. More so than any other game I've played.

@Flabyo - Yeah, I recently went off on an indie dev's forum because of the entitlement bullshit going on there. It's fucking toxic, especially for indie devs who don't have marketing budgets to counter the bullshit being spouted in forums.

@badbear I totally agree that it has it's touching moments. I didn't realize how attached I had gotten to these characters when I went through ME2 until now that i'm playing through ME3. I definitely got emotional a handful of times already.

You lost me there. What does Bioware, who had an effectively infinite budget, have to do with indie developers.

The only indie dev I can think of who got burned lately is Phil Fish, who really should have dropped off the internet sooner rather than later while the whiny little bastards got over it. Before that, it was the Project Zomboid developers when their PC got stolen. Ugly situations both, but that's all I can think of, and they only got as ugly as they did because the developers didn't just walk away from the crazies.
