Just notified a story I submitted for a paying anthology was accepted. Can't give details yet until the TOC is finalized and the publisher makes the announcement themselves but I'm very, very happy to have gotten into this one.q
Isn't it just? This is the first publication since I sold a short to an invite-only anthology last year (a month after my son was born, that was a very weird time) and this was the first story I've submitted in 2012 so it feels good to make the sale. Still waiting to hear about another short I have out.
Strangely this is the first thing I've had published since my son was born a month ago yesterday (Though it was accepted a few months back). I'm a bit out of habit with my writing since he was born, so trying to get back into a (writing) routine. I was progressing pretty well before, with 80000 words of my novel written in 8 weeks. Just need to get my arse into gear again.
I have a webcomic up with incredible art and a killer superhero story. And a pitch that I have in the can. That takes up most of my time though, just shilling on and on and on.
Starting today, a web preview of my new serial novel, GALATEA'S CROSS will be available to read and discuss. It is absolutely free and introduces (to most of you) the character of Tim Cross, HCA.
Here's a little background:
In the future the world is dominated by gigantic mega corporations that rule the markets like high tech feudal kingdoms. The only protection humanity has against the whims and machinations of the Megas is the Human/Corporate Advocacy, the HCA.
Of the HCA's many agents, Tim Cross is one of the best. Smart, shrewd, incisive, he's a man cut from a cloth woven in a bygone era- an old-school private dick forced to live in a pristine, almost antiseptic future.
When the teenaged murder suspect Cross has been assigned to protect turns out to be more than anybody expected, what follows is a high-speed, high casualty race to solve the mystery of the girl before the powerful forces out to kill her get their wish.
You can find out more and get access to the preview by checking in HERE
After the preview begins there will be regular updates, including art, character breakdowns, quotes from the series and more.
What is a serial novel? Well, in this case it's like a monthly TV series with each chapter being like an episode. There's mystery, action, scifi, politics a TINY amount of sex and all for 99c a pop, beginning in October.
I changed up my process on the story I'm working on now; instead of working from an outline, I just started free-associating. I hit a personal best as far as words-per-hour (as well as the number of instances of the word "handjob" for some reason), and I am really happy with the hallucinatory, subconscious feel of it. It's crazy and disjointed and it's a blast to work on.
