Daddy Si: I think it's a good idea, extending the challenge by one week. Perhaps it would be better on a two-week basis - remember how much you thought the R/R challenge improved after you turned it into a two week challenge?
I am a writer myself, so I find this challenge particularly interesting. And come to think of it, I did fancy having a go at doing spot illustrations for stories a while back....
Sorry for the HUGE delay; had to get some other stuff off the plate first...
Tried to move as fast as I could on this one; Ended up at about 300 minutes for a 200 word story. Plenty of gaffs. but I wanted to just plow through and keep the edits/SFX to a minimum.
Particularly impressed at how our own Mr Sizer has taken Budgie's self-imposed space/subject constraints and adapted them as edit/time constraints for the art challenge. Extra kudos for similar discipline, my people.
If I hadn't had an unexpected dead evening, I wouldn't have been able to participate this week.
It's a tricky one, and some people may have been scared off by the thought of two pages (Hell, I copped out at one page). Don't be discouraged by a quiet start on this challenge, Lee. It's a great concept, just needs some time to find its legs. That and tricking all the other talented bastards on this forum to show what they got! Yeah, let's shame them into it, that ALWAYS works! : )
