That's a difficult question to answer, because there are SO MANY possible answers for it. Really it depends on what you want to do in comics next.

Do you want to pair up with more writers and produce more self-published work?

Do you want to self-publish stories you wrote and illustrated yourself?

Do you want to do creator-owned work for an indy publisher?

Do you want to do freelance/WFH work for an indy publisher?

Each of those takes a different approach. The one thing that would likely help with all of those is making a blog for your art — which I see you've already done. So, nice job!

And I have to say — the fact that you've got a comic that's 90 fucking pages of painted art as your fucking portfolio is a HUGE plus for you. That shows a huge amount of commitment and work ethic for an artist who hasn't broken in yet. (For comparison, the first four-issue WITCH DOCTOR miniseries was 88 pages all together. Long term (1-2 years time) I can see having this pretty large story I'm working finished and painted and I'd be looking to find it a "home" somewhere, preferably with print and distribution. But this is really an ongoing project that I work on everyday in the background.

In the meantime though I'm looking for another project to paint, to hone my skill and just generally get better and have more people see my stuff. The only requirement would be that it was either interesting/educational OR paid. I guess this would fall into the last one: freelance/WFH work for an indy publisher.

@no cuddle time — First, do some market research. There's only a handful of indy publishers who are large enough that they reliably pay artists, and not all of them publish books with an aesthetic ...

Find out who's out there, and approach them. Some have open submissions (especially for artists), and you can just email them with links or send in hard copies of your work. Approaching them in person (at smaller cons, where they aren't swamped) generally works better, so they have a face to go with your name.

I'd also recommend the "Do you want to do creator-owned work for an indy publisher?" option, because that'll open other doors for you.
