* As I understand it, a "hackerspace" is a (semi?)-communal workshop space, where those interested in electronics and physical manipulation of tools and materials can find a common place to gather and...hack.

There isn't a hackerspace near me, although most people where I live have somewhat of a hackerspace in their shed. I also work as a sparkie so I have an electrical workshop at my disposal. Aside ...

Aside from this I an somewhat friendly with the London Hackspace and Dublin's TOG. There are several in Toronto. To be honest, I visited one for about a half-hour during one of their open nights, and found the space tiny and constricting, and the tool selection not much more ...

That said, I'd be interested in workshops for specific skills, or the ability to rent something like a 3D printer or laser cutter for short terms. I just haven't had the need yet.
