I made a post, then realised it would be better suited to the Newstrange thread. So here's our old friend Fadades playing in the snow instead...

Guy fails at parenting his kid, loses his shit and shoots her laptop:

There is a post doing the rounds of tumblr with people applauding this childish and moronic dick for his toddler-like temper tantrum with lots of added "oh she's so ungrateful, I had to work like ten jobs, down the pit and live in a cardboard box at the age of nine how dare she complain" comments.., and blaming the kid for well, being a kid. Personally I think the whole-bloody-lot of them need educating on how to be A Family.

[edited to add: I come from a crazy ass liberal background where I was not forced to do any chores or any other jobs beyond keeping a basic fire-safety level of tidiness in my room, and grew up to not resent my folks and actually started doing stuff to help them for no reward off my own back by the time I was this girl's age. IMO people cannot be made/forced to respect their parents, they only learn from their example]

What's funny is the guy isn't really wrong about what he's saying up to a point, it's just that they're all things that would make much more sense to sit down and say directly in a conversation with his daughter, whereupon they could have some sort of reasonable conversation with, just maybe, a reasonable outcome. The problem is his failure to realize that every kid in the goddamn world lashes out at their parents like that occasionally, whether on facebook or to a group of their friends.

Though really, even if you agree the kid should lose her laptop for whatever dumb shit, why destroy the damn thing? Give it to charity.

If he's smart he's already pulled out the innards and sold them on ebay and is just shooting the case.

    If he's smart...

@RenThing I wonder why those kids are forced to live in a strange brown world, and what is briefly revealed behind the curtain at the end.

    From good, old Aunty Beeb:

    Alan Moore on Anonymous' rise
Without wishing to overstate my case, everything in the observable universe definitely has its origins in Northamptonshire, and the adoption of the V for Vendetta mask as a multipurpose icon by the emerging global protest movements is no exception.
(This is where I go back to perusing threads and find one recently set-up and dedicated to this, isn't it?)

That Ebay link is totally for real btw, the guy is an old friend of mine, and he is actually going to lose his job on monday because of bubble wrap. The fact that it's going to be a great story to tell people in the future is not consoling him. So, if you need bubble wrap, for whatever reason, please check it out. :)
