Yes, stew! The ultimate winter food! Make sure you put several cans of Guiness in any stew that is prepared! Stew is also easy to make. And best made with several cans of Guiness.

    Remember the Tardis cake?

Hey, Allana ... any chance you got Peter kelly'sphone number?

Nope, no chance. I was to give him your number, remember? And then you were there and it wasn't my job anymore. :P
The best part is how you posted the question to me, instead of just being like "Hey Peter Kelly, what's your phone number."

Beer stew, though, that's brilliant. Why the hell didn't I think of that? [forehead-slap] Here I was looking at bizarre Brazilian stews and succulent pulled-pork stews and .... Oh, man, what if there's a pulled-pork beer stew recipe out there? I am on this.

Okay, the mailing list is sent.

A potluck should work, although this time around it'd be a good idea to co-ordinate beforehand. I volunteer to make a pot of garlic potatoes, and I'll bring a few bottles of Growers cider in various flavours.

Nah, see, if I make allowances for you then everybody's gonna wanna. This ain't no liquid potluck. (Though that might be a good theme for a future meetup.)

How about you grab some groceries and come to my place early? You can cook and try to keep me calm while I run around in manic-hostess mode. Even salad fixins' or veggies for a platter would be fine.

    For my part, I'll do:
    Appy-snacks (nachos, probably),
    Beer stew, +
    Some sort of dessert.

Any chance I could come early and cook as well? That way the potatoes will be nice and fresh and hot when we get to eating them.

Let's say, dinner ready for serving at 8pm, and snacks beforehand. Come as early as you need to get stuff ready. Although, it'd probably go more smoothly if people cooked at home and just rewarmed stuff at my place.

I can part-cook the garlic potatoes at home and finish them off at your place in 20 minutes, if that's not too much of a nuisance. They go all soggy and fall apart if they're cooked and reheated.

[edit - tofu is an abomination of Satan!]

You know, there's a nice Indian place by me. How about I just grab a shitload of veggie samosas? Would that work?

    is there beer in samosas...?

also, i could do the nachos if allana wants to do something else....

edited to add that i have nothing against samosas, i just think they'd be better with beer....

Pah! You people have no DIY ethic. Know what, fuck it, do what you want. And bring gin. I drink gin. Lots of it.

I can pack my dish of potatoes in a blanket or something to keep it hot on the way over. See you about 7:30.

I may or may not have gin, depending on how poor I am at the time.
