    Higher social class predicts increased unethical behavior

    Seven studies using experimental and naturalistic methods reveal that upper-class individuals behave more unethically than lower-class individuals. In studies 1 and 2, upper-class individuals were more likely to break the law while driving, relative to lower-class individuals. In follow-up laboratory studies, upper-class individuals were more likely to exhibit unethical decision-making tendencies (study 3), take valued goods from others (study 4), lie in a negotiation (study 5), cheat to increase their chances of winning a prize (study 6), and endorse unethical behavior at work (study 7) than were lower-class individuals. Mediator and moderator data demonstrated that upper-class individuals’ unethical tendencies are accounted for, in part, by their more favorable attitudes toward greed.

    PayPal Censors the Erotic Content of Indie Ebook Publishers

    "On Saturday February 18, PayPal began threatening indie book publishers and distributors with immediate deactivation of the businesses’ accounts if they did not remove books containing certain sexual themes – namely, specific sexual fantasies that PayPal does not approve of.

    PayPal told indie e-book publishers and retailers – such as AllRomance, Smashwords, Excessica and Bookstrand – that if they didn’t remove the offending literature from their catalogs within a few days of notification, PayPal would close their accounts. (…)

    @Si - interesting stuff, and something the games industry could perhaps have a go at. It's our big developer conference in San Fran this week (which I *never* get to go to, bah), and I suspect almost every speaker will be male.

    It doesn't harm the person speaking, but prevents them from continuing by replaying exactly what they're saying a fraction of a second after they say it.

    On a happier note, those quadrotor robots just get cuter and cooler every time they're shown to the public.

    They're peaking too damn quick. I mean in the space of a week, what, there's the NHS calamity, there's Horsegate, there's Gove and his parallel Gmail universe, there's workfare, there's the WRB, it's like they're a teenage boy finding a stash of porn and wanking himself to death. They need to moderate their flow of pure evil if they're going to last. It took Labour over a decade to fuck things up this badly and they managed to counter it with a small amount of sense.

    @JP Carpenter:

    Ironically, having prisoners jump shark tanks in televised extravaganzas will be used as both a punishment by and a profit center for the privatized police.

    @ magnusisasillyname: Spot-fucking-on, even down to the pants.
    Allergies? Well, I'm not good on strawberries, come out in a bit of a rash. The worst one though is Marmite. Only got to smell the stuff and I start voting Conservative.
    Sorry for the tangent but why did those two ever stop working together. One of the funniest things I've ever seen and still reduces me to a twitching damp spot:
