    Hullo all!

I'm currently working on a series: Eclipse Portraits.

I would like to cast male and female models to shoot at night in my apartment (non-nudes, TF only, please) for this portrait series. I welcome all shapes, sizes, ages, backgrounds, etc.
If you are interested in participating in this project and in the New York City area, please email me — me@joanneleah.com.

It will be very scientific and look something like this:

I spent the weekend at the Philly Tattoo Convention, shot 70 portraits in my studio on the convention floor, and met The Enigma. Good fucking weekend!

This picture is like my favoritest thing EVAR.

Bankara, that's awesome. I would've loved to go and shoot portraits at that con.

Bankara, as awesome as The Enigma is (and he is awesome), what really caught my eye was your shirt. Holy shit what is that?!

Thanks y'all, I had a blast shooting at the Tattoo Con and am furiously editing the work, some of which will undoubtedly show up in the photography thread. The Enigma was about the nicest guy you could imagine meeting.

@anchorbeard, the artist who made the design on my shirt is Jeremy Fish, I love his artwork. I picked this up at Upper Playground in SF years ago, they still collaborate to produce t-shirt designs. A couple of years back he did a book / 7" record with Aesop Rock called "The Next Best Thing" which was like the old Winnie The Pooh storybook / records I got when I was a kid. There was an audio cue cut into the song that would prompt you to flip the pages of the book so that you got a music video while listening to it. I love this shirt and am wearing it into dust. I got a lot of compliments from folks at the con on it who were familiar with his artwork, which was kind of the point of wearing it since I have no tattoos to show off...

Eep hard to get my eyes off Enigma at the same time he makes my skin crawl. Damn. He's been at it for nearly 20 years too. (It was him with Jim Rose Circus, way back when, right?)

I think I might leap into this. Because I might leap into a snapshot/day for a year thing. Maybe. I'll try to jack my way into a near abandoned flickr page and see if I can make it do my bidding. I hate pictures of me, by and large, but I'm trying to claw my way into a place where I own my own life and I suppose that includes owning my appearance. Guh.

Take inspiration from The Enigma, you don't have to cover every inch of your body in tattoos or sink prosthetic horns into your head or snip little pieces of your ears off to own your appearance. You could, if you wanted to, but it can be much, much simpler. Likely less painful too.

I met Enigma in the late 90's in the French Quarter of New Orleans. He was in a business suit. I had a HUGE crush on him back then. I think I broke google trying to find more pictures of him.
Not shocking at all, I also had a Darth Maul fetish.

@Bankara - Wow, that photograph is fabulous, and Enigma's ear cutting is amazing looking. I wonder how it effects his hearing... But yeah, you've every right to consider this photo to be your favorite thing EVAR.

@JoanneLeah - those look awesome, good luck with the project.
    @Bankara - hahahahahahah - that's fantastic

I'm being adventurous today. Pro-tip: lip-liner really does help, as does using concealer around your lips when you're done.
  4.  (10473.77)
@Argos: But does the lip liner have to be the exact same color or just in the general direction? And knowing how my skin reacts to concealer/foundation, I'll have to save that for very special occasions. And have I mentioned how incredibly beautiful you are before? Your proportions are just amazing!

awww, thank you!! Lip liner just has to be close-ish in color. For the red mine's almost exactly the same. They're a little different, but both are definitely "red." It helps to get it close in color, that way if you want to touch up the outline after you put on the lipstick, you can just smooth it out with the liner and it's not obviously a different product. But generally, the same general color will work, I think.

    Hey, long time no see!

@trini - Thanks! It helps to actually look at what you're seeing once in a while. Hiding the camera in the middle of those mirrors was a bit of a puzzle, though. :)

You're all looking quite lovely, incidentally. I seem to keep losing control over my jaw on a regular basis...
