i have a new job thing. I am finding that I like it much. Everyone in the lab is pretty awesome and nice. I did however start my first day/week off quite sick.
Anxious is the Green house- for tomorrow is the birthday thing. I'm anxious to know what It is we are doing and the hubby is anxious to make sure I like what it is we are doing
I know it will be fun since I was instructed to wear Victorian garb hehe.

Die Antwoord with my best friend, getting sweaty and crazed. Then Vaselka's. Twice in one night. Chowing on food until 9 am with a new friend.

    @flecky thanks man, :)

SQUUEEEE! okay...minor squeeee! I have finally decided to just let go when i'm painting. i've done two recently that got a lot more attention than my planned out stuff. I think my talent is in the color and not the design...my poor hands suck at detail work these days...but i had a blast last night painting randomly, and ended up with a pretty cool octopus fighting a crab. :)
i am eager to get some of my craptacular paintings scanned professionally so I can post them on a deviant art account or something....you can see some of the badly cell phone photoed versions on my facebook page...
Oooooh, cute girl said she wants to come over. Cute artsy girl canceled before because of the icky weather, but she wants to come hang out and "has a business proposition for me"..OOooooOooooo....XD...i hope that we can be friends and i hope that i can get involved in some more projects with my new artsy contacts.. especially the artsy contact with the pretty eyes and adorable face :)
I signed up for a booth space at a pagan gathering in may, and i've got one of my new artists coming as my assistant. I kinda need someone to help me set up, break down, and basically follow me around to open packages or help me get down to the ground, or up off of it. lol...i feel kinda silly, and it's weird trusting a stranger to my well being, but he's a really sweet kid who needs some cash and a talented artist to boot, annnd my dj friend vouches for him...

i've decided to do a big hand painted banner for my drink and draw show, and i'mma inviting all my artists over for a banner painting party. I hope i can get at least a few over. One of my artists donated the banner material and he's pretty damned awesome for it (mr. Billy Boyd who is also an actor/sfx artist/ graphic designer/ all around cool guy) I could probably get one printed up for cheap, but I think i'd rather have a hand designed one. It lends itself to the show's idea better (plus i might get some professional artist's signatures on it, and that's always rockin'...)

OOoooh, and one more happy note. we're starting a new roleplaying game (hopefully) today based on the system i've been working on with my hubs for the last ten years. I'm playing both a hero and a villain . YAY!
Pooka does not usually have happy time...but this has been a pretty good few days :)

@rachael sounds like an awesome night! Sorry I missed you at Sketchy's but to be honest I was completely knackered from my trip to Philly this weekend and could barely put pen to paper. Had to bail because I have 400 images from the Philly Tattoo Convention to edit, organize, and submit this week. Going to be an utter basket case all week but I loved this project, it was so much fun!
    Pints soon though!

@JP JEALOUS. Give Joseph a big 'ol uncomfortably long hug for me.

Today was good. I applied for a job which I hope I get, will be contacting this internship thinger soon and attended the launch of CBCMusic.ca, which I knew about before when CBC called in a bunch of publicity companies and gave us the lowdown. Today was the same thing except it included free wine and wonderful food. Am surprised to find that I created an account and have been listening to it solidly for an hour. The Classic Jazz station in particular. Mmm...

oh good god....so cute girl up and throws a fit on her facebook after i post a picture of the chocolates my husband got me. she ranted about how much vday sucked and how she was spending it alone at home....
oookayy...i thought she knew i was married, and that it was an open relationship. I thought she was cool with that.... damn..damn damn damn...well, my husband and i already decided to put off our celebrating until next weekend when the kids were gone...so...I guess i'll end up sleeping the day away...no sleep last night. I was too anxious to see if maybe she'd reply to my inquiry about her upset. either she's still sleepin' or she's not going to answer. bleh...

on the huggy side, i'm so lucky to have my hubs who puts up with my silliness. He gave me a copy of Nemesis for Vday and a box of yummy truffles. He told me he didn't want anything now, but when the new silent hill game came out I was to get it for him. that's cool with me...i love me some silent hill...
he takes such good care of my crippled ass. *gives him kisses on his sleepin' head*

Proof-positive I married the right woman:

Michelle: i love you too. why do you love me right now?
me: Because you give me Valentine's Day cards about Han and Leia. 8)
Michelle: no, it was about us. i'm han and you're leia. no wait…
me: Well, that means then that not only do you screw up, get captured, and frozen in carbo...nite, I'm a bad ass who goes to rescue you, and is captured as part of a plot to bring about the violent downfall of the gangster who wants your demise at the hand of my Jedi brother. SCORE.
Michelle: BUT I FLY THE MILLENIUM FALCON
me: Not while you're Jabba's paperweight you don't. Who do you think flies it then? That's right, ME AND YOUR BEST FRIEND THAT'S WHO!
    Michelle: WHATEVER PRINCESS

Let myself way down today and then no one wants to play along and ask me any questions.

Oh well bro got me American-size bento for dinner (it's how he gets out of cooking when I bloody well cooked last time we were on our own). It feeds three.

Now to kick back with Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig (about the third time I've seen it) and some meh but strong whiskey. Not really such a thing as weak whiskey I suppose, just moderately crappy. Eh, oh well. Cheers.

    OKAY

    SO

My wife just got out of her doctor's, and she doesn't think she's perimenopausal. She's got the irregular cycle, but none of the other conditions. It's something to do with her thyroid, but we don't know what. It's nothing bad, thank Crom, but it's something affecting her quality of life that her doctor thinks can be taken care of with proper diagnosis from an endocrinologist and the proper therapies. It makes sense; she's always had horrible hormonal problems. She'd have terrible mood swings around her moontime, every quarter when we were kids we'd get in a hige fuckin' donnybrook, and then there was her pulmonary embolism from the birth control, so some sort of endocrine issue other than menopause is a perfect fit, and seems like an easy fix.

    Which is awesome!

    But.

She takes forever in getting to the point with stories like this. I always lead with the good news, then dial it back. She'd been going on dropping bombs like she doesn't know what it is (which, for you non-neurotics, means OVARIAN CANCER), then says "But everything's good otherwise!"

Meanwhile I'm going to be taking a heart attack over here.

Today seems to have sucked for everyone. My brother is in jail. He'll be arraigned tomorrow. Don't know if they'll decide competency then.

I can give a vile net-hug, Beam. That's pretty much it, but you're welcome to it. *hug*

Fauxhammer, beamish and razangel, i'd hug the lot of you but all things considered that might be truly vile, so i shall make do with offering my sympathy and wishing you all the best with your troubles.

Now, harking back to the 'Good things' side of this thread; no work today so i spend the afternoon wandering around Whitechapel (the one in London) with my camera, snapping wildly at just about anything. Result; i learn that either i leave the camera to decide or i learn how to use it properly, half arsed guesswork is not getting results. Even so, despite my best efforts to ruin things, one or two pictures have turned out passably well. I am pleased with this.
Now, back at home, i decide to sample last November's sloe vodka. It has turned out well, very well, very well indeed. I am hoping there is no work tomorrow...

I just want to say a big thank you to comicbookbunny.

This whole shopping for a ring thing seemed daunting, and she offered to just plain old give me a ring for free.

That spurred me to getting off of my ass, and back out there looking for a ring. I had just assumed engagement rings were way too expensive, and out of my range, but it turns out that is not the case.

I ended up getting a ring made custom, and I feel extremely pleased with the result. I really didn't know anything about rings at all, and just a little advice (and a little bit of a psychic kick in the butt) from bunny made the difference. This is just another example of this community helping me out when I was in need. Thank you so much!!

I'm not proposing until the 28th, our 4 year anniversary is on the 29th, and due to Irish Tradition, I want to ask her before she asks me!

@GovSpy I think I speak for all of us when I say YOU DA MAN and I can't wait to hear how it all went. <3

    So. Jeez.

In late April I'll be in LA for MusExpo. Would LOVE to make plans with LA Whitechapel folk, but I honestly have no idea when I'll be free throughout that time. A lot of my days will be filled with drinking free wine and listening to music with people who like talking about music. All for business. Oh yeah, and I'm also a Vice President of A&R for a music company now. Doesn't lead to any money yet, but...it's something. We'll see.

Meanwhile for mid-April, Alan and I are working out the kinks in the planned trip for Chicago, where I'll get to meet his parents and see a beer-loving, comic-creating friend. Big thing right now is finding a cheap place in the city with a king-size bed. We're thinking hostels. Exciting!!

Finally heard back from the friend I was worried about I read it early in the morning and just couldn't get back to sleep. She's...not in a good place. I sent her an e-mail just to let her know that dealing with her problems alone isn't the only option for her and that I'm around whenever she wants. I'm hoping she responds. Worried, but she responded and says that she is trying to get better, so that's something. Hoping to continue an e-mail communication with her.

Looks like I'm losing more weight. And the lip rash crappy thing is gone! And I'm actually starting to smile when looking at myself in the mirror! That's something.

And right now I'm sipping coffee and listening to CBCMusic's Singer-Songwriter station and hoping for an evening of shooting things with either a portal gun or chainsaw gun.

Heh, speaking of rings, my partner and I finally found one on etsy we liked, and the shop owner is custom making one for us. Neither of us like diamonds, so we didn't want to go with that, so we were thinking of using either a piece of amber with inclusions, meteorite, or fire agate. But then we came across a silver ring on etsy with a conflict-free, BLACK diamond! And it was very affordable, too. Not some outrageously over-priced piece of jewelry, but something modest and pretty that suits both our styles :) I'm so excited.
