[Special SpurFakt of the day: Did you know Stan Lee wrote the lyrics for the original Defenders Of The Earth theme? Kmcleod can now legitimately claim he is Better Than Stan the Man. EXCELSIOR.]
I grew up on 60's and 70's cartoons and never really liked the 80's era of stilted and dubbed animation. So I wasn't really jazzed by the challenge and not inspired like some of the great pieces posted here so far. One of my clients always hands me crap sketches with the only directions of "Fredify it". Well here's my Fredified version of Mysterious Cities of Gold, I thought it would be fun to have a modern version... although not a total re-imagine.
@FredG. Holy crap. Not only is that a great picture, but you have answered a question I've had for about 20 years now. On and off I have searched for and wondered about this cartoon I used to watch when I was very young. Whenever I have described it to people, no one has ever had any idea what it was. I haven't scoured the internet much the last couple years, but I did for a while a long time ago. And then here i am, on good old WC, and not even looking for it, and BAM! There it is. Mysterious Cities of Gold. My sincere thanks good sir, you have made my day, after a long and crappy one.
Thanks, cjkoger & dnewling, I live to serve. I wish I had that wonderful satirical mindset of Kmcleod, but alas, I make a living drawing cute things, it is my curse, that, and an over use of commas.
@Dirtbag: The color scheme, layout and everything has me thinking of what Spider Jerusalem watches on his big holo-TV. Maybe he can do a crossover with Anthrax Cat.
