Although I have the sneaking suspicion that this mix is just a regurgitation of everything I've downloaded in the past three months based on recommendations from this thread .... Still. I need some chillz today, and this is doin' it.

13 Houses and The Mermaid - Joe Frawley

    Hawk Moon Records: Volume III
Free sleepy drones. I enjoyed studying (read: falling asleep) to this.

    BRUXA

    Bruxa - Victimeyez

Okay so imagine heavy, filthy electro, bass, trap, juke and crunk through a filter of black magic and Hispanic sleaze-rap about ritual sacrifice. Still not even close to how cool BRUXA actually are.

I just managed to get these guys to agree to put their album out with us. One advantage of your label's albums being ripped and re-upped to servers in the former USSR is that it attracts the attention of amazing bands like Mr Morse.... they sit somewhere between Depeche Mode and Thom Yorke, with a clean, chillwave feel to their productions.

Here's a video for Supreme Cuts &Haleek Maul's track M00N. The album's mysteriously vanished from the Mishka site...

    King Creosote - Ankle Shackles

I find King Creosote a bit hit-and-miss, but lately I've been avoiding avoiding avoiding things so this track got me right in the gut.

Been on a HEAVY music trip over the last few days. Mostly for research into some interviews I'm doing this week....

But there has been some nice lightness around....

Reckon more than a few people will want to know this...

DEATH GRIPS leaked their whole new album NO LOVE DEEP WEB online this morning.

    It's pretty fucking immense.

The cover is a picture of a cock with the title on it in biro. Don't know what's going on there.

    Edited to add:

Sacramento rap-punk outfit Death Grips originally reported that their second LP of 2012, NO LOVE DEEP WEB, would hit shelves “sometime this fall”. After announcing via Twitter yesterday that the “label (Epic Records) wouldn’t confirm a release date ’till next year sometime’”, the outfit responded in true anarchical fashion by making the album available on their own terms. “The label will be hearing the album for the first time with you”, they added.

    From Consequence of Sound

So basically the dick is due to the fact they just fucked their major record label. I love this band so much.

This is the biggest music story of the year. I kind of suspected something like this would happen. I wonder how planned it was, don't forget this is a band who are on record as saying that everything they do as Death Grips is performance art. Essentially whipping your own album out from under the feet of one of the biggest corporate labels in the world, and then releasing it with a picture of a massive cock as the cover, well... it fits the description. I'm thrilled!

Just sampled the new Godspeed You! Black Emperor album on youtube. And enjoyed it. Thought the droney track was a nice change to style.

    Please Remain Calm-HOSTAGE CALM
    Angst-HANDGUNS
    Babel-MUMFORD & SONS

(PRC is one of the best records of this year, Angst is a nice dose of fast, whiny melody and Babel is disappointing and way too long.)
