[Rambling story warning] I've had a snippet of a song floating around in my head for days, niggling & getting under my skin. I knew I'd heard it on a mix somewhere recently, but couldn't for the life of me remember where. After a lot of scanning through various mixes/podcasts, I finally found the source, which was on the highly recommended (but infrequent) Stones Throw label podcast, specifically the Quakers mix. Subsequent exhaustive googling also brought up the original song from the mix that was stuck in my head, which I present now. Vivien Goldman - Private Armies It feels like a lot of effort went into finding that. I feel better now. Thank you for indulging me.
I've posted a select few things here from Black Lantern, the collective I''m involved with, and I try not to clog up the thread with it... but a lot of the music I listen to is on our label. It's a total labour of love. Mild Maynyrd, another 'chapel resident, is on there too. We've released a 50-track 'best-of' comp which I'm really proud to be a part of.
Wanted to say thanks to so many of the people on this board who've supported the label creatively, socially, and sometimes even financially. You guys rule. Enjoy the album - a whole mess of hip-hop, ambient, electronic, bass, experimental, synthpop, cut and paste, techno... something for everyone I hope.
THIS IS THE WAY THE WORLD ENDS, NOT WITH A BANG, BUT WITH A TENTACLE
My mate's hip-hop tune seems to have gone, if not viral, then at least gravely infectious. Probably because of the puppies and kittens. 23,000 views and counting...
