OK I promised. Here goes. These are from a series called The World Without You. It was based on J.G. Ballard's The Burning World and influenced not just a little by Richard Stanley's Hardware.

Work in progress based on The Burning World by Ballard

    Next in the series

See, folks - some good can come from the Gold Coast after all!

Oblogatory bligspam - This is 3 of 11. The full sequence and more is up at my brand new blog about neuroaesthetics, paleontology and art praxis. It's new! I just posted tonight! Whee!

@Kay, looks more like Dune to me.

Okay, one more, because it'd be a shame to waste all that oatmeal.

@Kay: You have managed to precisely, with almost telepathic accuracy, nail the images i had in mind when i suggested this subject.

Argh jeez, I was planning on doing this over the weekend and I got horribly sick...Will try to come up with something quick...

@Roadscum - glad I could manage that. I'll be printing them on etching paper this year, no idea where they'll be shown mind you. The tower block is on the Gold Coast, the dunes were in an abandoned sandmining operation at Kurnell (so Allana I guess you were pretty close with your assessment - I think they were mining for silica though, not Spice, sadly) and in the rest of the sequence (on the other end of the link) the dry hills were at Braidwood on the Southern Highlands of NSW, the interior space with the figure was the old abandoned Wilson car park in Camperdown (demolished 1992) and the metal doors and quasi-Aztec ruin were at the Walter Burley Griffin-designed brickworks in Ultimo, demolished 1991.

Some lovely stuff coming in at the end...Allana, I've just got to laugh at your use and abuse of oatmeal. Great work, and you clearly win the 'makeup' award!

Well, I had given up on this, but just walked out of the hotel on a work trip, and noticed this thing.

Closing in the morning will work. Any late submissions, similar to the R/R thread, can be posted in the Photography Thread.

Next challenge comes up when this one is closed tomorrow morning.
