    I find myself with mixed feelings about Enyclopedia Britannica no longer publishing.
    I used my grandmother's copies of the books for all my reports as a child and would often find myself just reading them for fun. However, the company that I work for created the Enyclopedia Britannica app and it's been "shooting up the charts" since this news was released. It's a great app and while I had nothing to do with it, I'm pretty proud of "us" for it. So, yeah, mixed feelings.

    Anonymous appears to have hacked e-mail accounts belonging to senior figures in the Syrian government.

    Which would be great except that they alerted the Syrian government to this fact, leading them to stop using the accounts - which the Syrian opposition had been secretly monitoring for motnhs.

    An earless baby bunny that was a rising star on Germany's celebrity animal scene had his 15 minutes of fame brought to an abrupt end when he was accidentally stepped on by a television cameraman.

    The Maasai Cricket Warriors

    In Kenya, a group of young Maasai warriors from the Laikipia region formed a cricket team with big hopes: to promote healthy living, to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS and women's issues, and ultimately to become role models in their community and ambassadors for both the Maasai and Kenya. The Maasai Cricket Warriors have been training hard, having recently left their village for the city of Mombasa to attend the Legends Cricket Nursery for further coaching. Their next goal is to travel to South Africa to take part in the Last Man Stands World Championships.


    Beautiful pictures, even for those (like me) who never quite understood cricket.

    A few weeks ago in Florida, a man who called himself the "neighborhood watch commander" was out patrolling the fine streets of his gated subdivision when he phoned in a 9-11 report about a suspicious looking young man with his hood up. A few details to note:

    1. It was raining, probably hence the hood.
    2. The young man was black and walking quickly (again, raining remember).
    3. The "commander" is white.
    4. 9-1-1 told him that the police were on their way and not to do anything.
    5. Later on the kid is dead. Found on his body was his wallet, a phone (his) and a pack of skittles. He even had a reason to be in the gated community because family lived there, people he was visiting.
    6. The kid was 14. And unarmed.

    They've released the 9-1-1 tapes of people in the area. You can hear the kid begging.

    And the district attorney won't charge the fuck with murder. If I could flex my brain meat and light his portion of Florida on fire with the power of my hate brain I would.
