    Ugh, thread resurrection time!

    SO!

I am now safely within the arms of the borough of Kings, and so all sorts of Chaplain meetups are more than welcome.

Suggestions involving my other perambulations where I'm going no matter what:
    - Wed. at Botanica (on E. Houston between Mulberry and Mott), which marks the beginning of Mr. Fine Wine's 17th year of playing soul 45's at said bar. Free entry. It should be good times.
    - Thu. at Saint Vitus Bar to headbang to various death metal bands including the ensemble of our dorkmuffin's beau. Four bands, ten bucks! Good times here too!

I am -- however -- reminded of mssr. Ancrebarbe and his arrival into Manhattan on the night between Friday and Saturday, and perhaps (despite the meager hours he has until he has to depart for The Frozen North) this might be an opportunity for a strange meeting as well?

Apart from said events, I shall get myself one of them prepaids tomorrow and post the number here and elsewhere for assuming direct control of events.

    Yours, &c.

    ETA:

Point being! Who's up for which dates? Roll call!

I may be able to make it for Wednesday, but frustratingly, on Tuesday or Thursday I'll be living the city to go dogsitting in the country for two weeks, dammit. However, being a big fan of WFMU and Botannica, I'll definitely be around for Mr Fine Wine if at all possible.

    Yay for Wednesday!

Also, I just remembered Glu's doing the Sketchy's on Saturday (?), so that's another option!

I seem to have neglected to suggest starting the meetup BEFORE THESE EVENTS, yes? Let us go eat and/or imbibe, perhaps? And then move on to musical entertainments!

Sunday is Sketchy's! Come out: http://drsketchy.com/branch/newyork for details. By the time most of you have read this, I will have left the state, but I'll be back in time to run my own damn event. Otherwise, I can meet up afterwards in theory - the Dublin branch director is in town and we might get drinks or she might run off into the night to do other things or something. I suck at making plans. Just... show up.

In all my years of being part of WhiteChapel I've never attended a meetup. I'd definitely be down to do something!

There is totally a sushi place on my block (a 20 minute walk from Vitus and near a TON of public transit) that does free sake with dinner.

    JUST SAYIN'.

Also, Tap, you got an international phone? That may make getting in touch with you a bit easier. If not, I'll just harass you on Facebook.

Oh also I should warn you all, the death metal at the bar costs money but the bar itself is free, so if you don't want to see bands, there will be a place for you away from the creepy this:

    (that's my boyfriend)

That said, Dysrhythmia is playing and I think they're a little more accessible (not really death metal, more jazzy and rock-oriented, but definitely still metal). Cleric, the band from Philly that's also playing, is wonky and trippy and strange. I know ... nothing about Torrential Downpour. I've just been informed that they sound kind of like Cleric but are more accessible?

Dysrhythmia and Pyrrhon are probably the most catchy of the bunch, and Pyrrhon is definitely more death metal than the other acts. Dysrhythmia is made up of um, half of the band Gorguts hahaha. It promises to be a good and interesting show.

That's still an ixnay on the prepaid, but I'll keep my Android with me and I'll be checking in here and on FB whenever I can find a free WiFi around. Sushi, incidentally, sounds entirely awesome and the sake certainly don't hurt none!

Anyhoo! Tomorrow is going to be Botanica at least from 9:30 PM onwards, but like I said, I'm up for shenanigans prior to that, too.

    @radicaldoubt - Do eeeet!
@glukkake (if & when you read this) - Any idea how strict the dresscode there is?

    All y'all slackers: CHIME IN.

    Love,
    R.

Is anybody going to be around in September? I'm shipping back to Boston for a week, and I'm thinking about taking the Fung Wah to NYC for a day or two.

Actually I hadn't realized (on account of The Dumb) that of course SMSs work just fine. My number is [redacted], so feel free to text me about Plans.

Or not, as my roaming connection seems rather flaky. Boo, hiss. WiFi scouting it is, and Botanica at nine-thirty-ish at the latest.

If and when you are wandering the Lower Ease Side, eat at Paul's: http://www.paulsburgers.com/. Also, check out Nerd York City for more things to do.

    YES.

    If anyone wants sushi before,

    Here!

I'd recommend getting there around 7PM so we have time to eat and walk up.

If you're interested in joining, post here or (if you're friends with me on FB) send me a FB message.

No later than 7 though! Bands at Vitus start at 8:30 and I kind of have to be there since my boyfriend is playing first!
