    Fantastic work, @fskaya and @dnewling, and thanks to all for participating in this and all the art of fast fiction threads.

    However, this will be the final one.

    For lots of reasons, the execution of the concept never got the traction that I hoped for, and despite the fantastic art that resulted, art that I thought more than matched and suited the stories I produced, it became apparent that there wasn't the level of interest I'd hoped for.

    And, to be honest, with the declining interest In (and submissions to) the thread(s), I don't want to run the risk of putting up a story and, through no fault of anyone's, have a challenge where there were no actual art responses.

    So thank you, again, one and all for the art, and for the kind words about the stories.

    Sigh...I was afraid something like this might happen....

    @Budgie: It's not so much the lack of interest, it's just that most people didn't have the time. But out of interest, which entry would you have picked from here if you had kept the challenge going?

    @Budgie - That's a real shame. For what it's worth, I've loved these threads and the stories you've written for them. It's been a really interesting and different kind of challenge, which has produced some great work (from both sides).
    (My 2 cents) I think the real difficulty is having 2 art challenges running at the same time, especially when you're up against something as well established as the Remake/Remodel threads. Speaking for myself, I only usually had time to work on one challenge (if that), and it was a hard decision to make.
    Perhaps if there was an R/R thread one week, then a Fast Fiction the next, it might get more attention and flourish.
    A beautiful experiment nonetheless. Thank you for all the inspiration.

    @ Budgie: Yes, I also think the problem was two art challenges at the same time; people often don't have time for both (or sometimes, not even one), so they have to choose between them. Alternating them might be the answer, but I'm not sure how as R/R runs fortnightly. Perhaps a Budgie challenge could start a week after a new R/R challenge starts, rather than the two both starting and finishing at the same times. Or have R/R for two weeks, then the Budgie challenge for two weeks. Or both become monthly challenges so people have more time for them.

    Maybe a word with Daddy Si? You might be able to work something out. I would really love this challenge to stay.

    "Too much at one time" is definitely an issue. I've tried to do challenges like this on another forum, but everyone there is too busy drawing/writing their own stuff to participate.

    @Jason A. Quest: Yes - this whole business shows that having another artistic challenge running alongside the R/R challenge runs the risk of too many artistic commitments that most people will not be able to meet. The bosses will have to bear this in mind and work out some strategy for dealing with it when considering new types of artistic challenge in the future.

    Sad to hear that the Fast Fiction experiment is over. I hope The Management will consider bringing back a retooled Season 2 at some point; for my money, FF has been the most interesting of all WC challenges.

    Not sure if the challenge is still running, but what I was working on is over in the April Artist's Thread.

    Thank you to Mr B and all FF contributors. It's been swell.

    Me too, I'm a dumbass and just figured out Fast Fiction was for artists, thought it was a writers thread and passed it over until I saw it mentioned in the artists thread. Had I know I would have jumped in.

    That's a shame, was a really cool idea. I think 2 art-challenge threads running at the same time probably forces folk to 'choose' which the free time will be allocated too?

    Would love to see this return, perhaps if Si is needing a break from his art challenges?

    I'd love to see this return as well. I think that alternating it with the R/R challenge may the best option so people are not trying to meet two artistic challenges at the same time. Well, it was an experiment, so it is open to retooling and reworking if things don't quite work out the first time.

    Seconding alternating fast fiction & R/R challenges.
    I think it'd be an interesting way of breaking up things in Whitechapel, and keeping it from stagnating...
    and I did like reading the short stories.

    If artists not checking the thread (because they think it's for writers) is the problem, perhaps tagging the title with something like "Artist challenge" would help solve that problem. I was really looking forward to submissions on this one, too, and I liked the idea behind these challenges.

    I too think that alternating the R/R and the Fast Fiction challenges would be a good idea. I think the last 2 stories, in particular, were both excellent and inspiring, and there's this little beast gnawing inside that's asking for a chance to eventually contribute....
