I just learned about it today from Gweek podcast. And yeah, according to them it does use GPS to determine when you should accelerate and escape from zombies.

Ah, cool. I'm going to be starting a street running program in a few weeks so I can start marathon training so it'll be neat to have that access to the ap.

So video games are being used as a scapegoat for the Ut√łya shootings. I can't say I'm surprised, but it's pretty appalling.

Some good coverage over at Rock, Paper, Shotgun.

Anyone know of any good iPad games? I already have Settlers of Catan, PvZ, Angry Birds, etc but I need more, MOAR!

Carcassonne is on iPad, edgar has Neuroshima Hex which he really likes (it's confusing at first but then you get the hang of it), Fruit Ninja is lots of fun (Arcade mode is best), Jetpack, Gravity Hook (fucking difficult as hell, but fun), and Labyrinth 2.

Danke! I recommend you guys check out Wasted Land (turn based Call of Cthulhu game set in WWII), Kingdom Rush (great little tower defense game), and Small World (which is nearly a perfect iPad translation of the board game).

Awesome, thanks! There's a Lovecraftian game called "Elder SIgn" but I haven't tried it yet, so I can't say if it's good, but it does exist if you're interested.

Ever since @WORSETHANDETROIT introduced me to The SCP Foundation via his tumblr, I've been obsessed with reading through all the artifacts there. Last night, I found out that someone has been making a video game based on it called SCP Containment Breach.
I haven't had the chance to play yet, but I've downloaded it and am compelled to play at the first opportunity. I'm stupidly excited about it, which is likely to lead to bitter disappointment and possibly tears, but it looks halfway decent based on the posted videos.

Elder Sign is good fun, and works on both iPhones and iPads. I recommend. They're starting to come out with mini expansions, too, so you can get new elder gods to fight.

I actually have it. It's based, loosely, on several board and card games. It's good but hard in that it's pretty stacked against the player (because humans winning against the elder beasties should be difficult). Takes some getting used to.

I second the Small World, it's great fun. Also Starbase Orion, if you liked Master of Orion games. Damn it's addictive.

I'm a big fan of the "Broken Sword" games on the iPad. Really, really solid ports. Strategery is a great little risk-y type game. Currently enjoying being quite shit at Sim City too. If you're willing to jailbreak, ScummVM is a must have! Most of the old lucasarts games lend themselves extremely well to a touch screen.
And Baldurs Gate is coming soon. Yes.
On a non-iOS tangent, (although, I think it's coming..) has anyone played Botanicula yet? It's quite beautiful. Had me grinning like a loon.

I'm very, very suspicious of any kind of Blizzard beta after I got Starcraft II the day it came out and a bug caused it to fry my graphics card.

Damn, tried out both Zombies, Run! and Elder Sign today. The first one I tried just when walking to downtown, and even when I had the zombie hordes turned off (ie. no need to speed up), I noticed that I was walking so fast I was totally winded when I got to my destination. Then spent some 3-4 hours totally hooked on playing Elder Sign in a cafe and a pub.

    @Vornaskotti

Yeah, I know what you mean re: Zombies, Run! What do you think of the radio drama quality? I rather like it.

Which investigators do you use? I have three I almost always take (the one who gets free yellow and red rune slots in Other Worlds, and two of the other women) and I have about a 60-75% win rate.

@DJ Stawes: In their defence, that was kind of nVidia's fault - the game just didn't have anything intentionally limiting its framerate, and apparently the graphics card driver was happy with running all the way up to melting point. Unless I'm thinking of the wrong bug of course.

    RenThing:

I just did the first mission - the radio drama is a bit hammy but then again, sort of fits the genre so no problem there.

With ES, I don't strategize that much at least yet, I just hit random until I find a selection that looks nice :) Haven't come close to defeating Azathoth so far, let alone Cthulhu.
