So, just finished Diablo III (hey, between a day job, writing, a kid, and my LoL habit I don't have a lot of time for other games).
Anyone else feel the ending was a bit...meh? And as far as ending cinematics for a Blizz game I have to say I think these were the weakest.
Alsois it just my food-starved brain or did we not kill Adria? What do you think, expansion bait?
Anyway, I doubt I'll be playing it any more except to finish it with my wife with the characters we're playing together. -

Regarding Diablo 3:
I've always felt that the story is the weakest part of the Diablo series, and it isn't really the reason I play the game. Diablo does atmosphere really well, as well as engaging gameplay, but the story is there mostly to provide context rather than emotional satisfaction.
I also fully expect a fifth act expansion/DLC at some point. Adria and the Black Soulstone are the most visible of the hanging threads, but I also wouldn't be surprised to see the Jeweler's gem crop up as well. Diablo 3 does seem to be cribbing off of Diablo 2's format a fair bit, so I'd hazard a guess that there'll also be two more classes and some new crafting mechanic. -

@RenThing : I think the final cinematic was pretty weak, though it may have been the mid-chapter cinematics were just better and eclipsed the ending.Adria escaped through a portal after the ritual. Definitely thinking that's expansion-bait. Also, after all the little hints and the animated short Wrath, I thought Imperius would ending up being a boss fight. Maybe more expansion bait.

@J.Brennan: Good point. Imperious did kind of take a dive in the final moments - I was fully expecting to have to fight him before fighting Diablo -

@Morac I'm using Snow Leopard on my MBP, and the game seems to run fine. The escape key menu didn't lead me to any way to quit though so for a time I was stuck in your strange world ;)
Incidentally, I fancy myself a bit of a music person and sound designer. Can I link you to my demo reels in case you guys are looking to go further with sound in this or a future game? I'm aiming to get some indie game experience, not money. -

RE No quit button: Uhhh.... oops. I'll look in to patching that (likely a cross-pollination issue with the web version, where a quit button doesn't make sense).

I'm a little bit on the fence about this. Okay, the guy was a dick there, and compounded the dickery by reaming on Wil Wheaton next, but getting fired for it right off the bat was maybe a bit harsh. Especially after the apologies. The guy was untactful dick, no doubts about it, though.

EDIT: Okay, his comments to Wil Wheaton after the fact were definitely grounds for sacking his ass and letting him out to grow up a bit. In his follow-up stuff he kind of proved that he was indeed a dickbag, not someone fundamentally decent that just happened to blurt out something stupid in a moment of a brainfart.
EDIT2: Okay, premature commentation here, I delved more into the issue and looks like he's one of those guys who confuse "opinionated" with "obnoxious". Also, I doubt he'll be working as a PR specialist again any time soon :P http://www.linkedin.com/pub/ryan-perez/23/915/963 -

I don't know anything about what happened outside of reading the first couple of pages of that thread but I would say that Jim Sterling guy should have been let go far earlier than dumb intern. Sure dumb intern was dumb but really the website should have just said that writers opinions are their own and blah blah and then made him get coffee and write about Hello Kitty and Cooking Mama games for the next six months.

Wil was just angry at a friend of his being insulted I guess.
We're going to see more and more people falling foul of things they've said on twitter in the coming year. I don't think everyone using it quite grasps just how amazingly public anything you say on it can be.
