The Pinball Arcade is making me very happy, and I'll be buying every DLC table when and as it becomes available.
Fez is ths Friday. Why Friday? Ask Microsoft, I'm totally in the dark.
Trials Evolution is next Wednesday, and it's going to try to kill me.

I don't know why XBLA is doing such a good job of taking all my money this month, especially seeing as I haven't bought anything off it in a bit over forever, but I'm certainly not complaining. :)

I finished Mass Effect 3 the other night. I kinda liked the ending, actually.

Mostly because it hit home the message, for me at least (or, maybe for this particular Shepard I was playing) that what we do when we die doesn't actually matter as much as what we did when we were alive. That's strong medicine, right there.

Anyone else looking forward to Legend of Grimrock? It's an old-school dungeon crawler type affair that looks mightily excellent. It also releases at 17:00 UTC, which by catastrophic timezone implications is exactly when I should be curling up in bed so I can be alive at work in the morning. Bah.
What I need is a technician in the field of science time management. I wonder where I can find one?

Hey guys! Lookkit what just got an IndieDB page! It's the game I'm making for the Edge Magazine Create challenge. Hopefully, by this time next week it'll be over and done with, and soon after I'll be able to sell it for some cashy-monies.

Picked up Kirby and the return to dreamland.

Such fun! Easy as all hell, but MY GOD how I love Kirby.

Wish it was more like Kirby 64 though...

I didn't think Mass Effect 3's ending was THAT bad, just lazy.

Playing Warriors Orochi 3, and I love how much fun their writers are clearly having taking the piss out of many of the stranger aspects of Three Kingdoms and so on. They clearly love the source material that they normally play so straight, but they seem to be enjoying being able to kick back and do silly things in this one.

It's very genre aware as well, some of the Samurai era characters keep commenting that the various ladies really shouldn't be so immodestly dressed as they are in this game. And the crossovers with characters from 'modern' era games like Dead or Alive work much better than I thought they were going to.

There's something glorious about having Jeanne d'Arc and Ryu Hayabusa (from Ninja Gaiden) fighting against Achilles around the Trojan horse which has somehow ended up on Mt. Dingjun in China...

I'm telling everyone I can to play Journey. It's a game people will be talking about for years to go a la Ico. Sadly that group of people will on the small side due to the masses preferring to stick with CoD death matches.

    I hate this world.

I've enjoyed what I've played of Fez, but then my friend brought up what a massive tool the creator is, and now I feel kind of bad about buying it.

    His twitter

    GDC + douchebaggery
  4.  (10587.73)
He's not a douchebag at all. He's a gamer with opinions. He's also someone who isn't really prepared to deal with the public, which is perfectly fine seeing as I want a game from a talented developer rather than a PR guy. He said something controversial (but not that controversial) and a loud section of the internet jumped down his throat. He reacted badly and things went downhill from there.

And seriously, if you want to bring up creators and douchebaggery, you're going to have to get rid of Ender's Game. I don't know about you but that's not something I'm willing to do.

I'm not necessarily saying people shouldn't buy the game because the guy's a douche, but I feel like they've ought to at least know who their money's going to. I can't really respect a guy who tells people who disagree with him to choke on his dick, no matter how good his game is. If you look at his recent twitter posts, he's literally taunting people that he has a game coming out, rather than just being proud of his accomplishments like most rational human beings.

I could also argue the whole Japan vs the West thing both ways, but that's another discussion. And while it's one that is certainly worthwhile, there's better ways to bring it about.

I think this guy is a douchebag. I might be biased though as I'm a game developer working for a Japanese company :).
Anyway, making games is difficult and I respect the fact that a small team released something that gets good reviews all over the place.
Still, behaving like a dick is not the best way to promote their work. Especially when the game has been in development for 5 years and has a number of class A bugs (crashes, etc.)...

Regarding A-Bugs: OR ARE THEY (they probably are).

I think he's pretty harmless, and it's important to remember that more than he worked on the game. I wouldn't say that I respect the way he reacted, but I honestly don't think it matters much how socially inept he is, he helped make a beautiful and awesome game. I think that's worth more than cursing at strangers or harsh, sweeping criticisms.

I have to say after playing it for a couple of hours last night, Fez isn't really doing it for me. It has some clever ideas, but think I'm kinda done with arty indie platformers for the time being. I played Trials Evolution afterwards and had far more fun with that.

Goddamn, this makes me consider taking up running, and I hate the whole idea of the sport!

    zombiesrungame.com

You tie your shoes, put on your headphones, take your first steps outside. You’ve barely covered 100 yards when you hear them. They must be close. You can hear every guttural breath, every rattling groan - they’re everywhere. Zombies. There’s only one thing you can do: Run!

    @Vornaskotti

I was an early adopter of that game and I have to say that I really, really enjoy it. The radio drama snippets are well done and the personalities of the characters are engaging.

It interfaces with your iPhone music ap well-ish; it will get a play list running but you have no way of advancing past a track you'd rather skip from the ZombiesRun! ap itself, so you have to get the play list going and then also open the music ap.

I have yet to encounter a zombie mob while running but that might be because I run on a treadmill at the gym and that feature might be linked to actual distance travelled (which is tracked by GPS), which for me is nearly zero since I'm on a treadmill.

The only thing that I'm skeptical about is using the accelerometer to track pace. I don't think that works very well.

So, what I would say is get the ap for entertainment to spruce up your running but get a running ap to actually track your running if you care about such things.

I pre-ordered the Zombies, Run! app for Android and I'm looking forward to using it as an excuse to start running regularly again. I'm not really a "runner" so I use things like podcasts, music and now this to distract me from the horrors of exercise.
