I can't think of any nexus of creativity as diverse as here. A place that I still daily lurk for pop culture alerts. One of the many projects I have been working on for awhile has been Divergent Magazine. I'm one of the few on the staff that has stayed on board while life has thrown curved balls at our lot. Which has ended up having me be the Editor.

Divergent Magazine is about the gallery experience. We exhibit pieces (fiction, nonfiction, poetry, art of all forms) featuring the best upcoming artists across the world and the artist retains their copyrights for the art. We really wanted to capture that contemporary art gallery interaction. Our first issue has over a thousand reads as the entire book can be seen in preview and the .pdf download will always be free.

That can be seen here:
Issue One

Our Facebook is here:
Page.

Thank you for your time, Whitechapel.

The application goes over the details but yes, there's a form.

:)

That can be found here:
Form

Concerning the editing/cropping that's mentioned within the form, that's really a case-by-case thing and we've kept in contact with every artist in the case. Within the first issue, we opted to invert two images for the use of color scheme. We got approval from the artists before we published it that way.

I'm getting a 404 error on that link.
So, that form is the application that covers what you do to submit?
I'm just thinking, considering the title of the thread and all, maybe it would be good to tell people here what is is you'd like them to do, rather than just say what the magazine is.

I'm dying to make that diagram into a page. I'd love to just do that!

If you check 'Sugar High' in the previous issue, there was a lot of type and design play in it. It originally was just a block essay that was submitted.

As of right now, we're still scouting for interviews and fiction.

We place the art around stories with similar themes.

Aside from the banner of 'Summer issue,' we haven't settled on a date. We didn't last issue until we knew we had over twenty pages of material. I guess you could say that the material dedicate when we go to press. As it stands, 'May' has been our general answer for deadlines.

Last time, we had over a hundred submissions but the exhibit releases weren't returned. So we had to touch-base again with all the artists and authors. Let's just say I have a lot of really great pieces still sitting on my desktop in a folder 'Mag Design' that I still don't have releases for. That's why the application is now tied into also being the release. It was written by a friend of mine at the University of Houston to cover all the bases.
