Hi folks, have a gander at the cover for the all-new Weaponizer Magazine, coming soon to an internet, and quite possibly independent bookshop, near you!
The cover is by Mike Rooth, of these hallowed online halls. It's badass, as you can see!
The interior features 50 pages of new fiction, comics, art and literary subversion, including a never-before-seen interview with CHINA MIEVILLE about his novel 'The City and the City', plus groundbreaking new stories from several other Whitechapellians, such as Fauxhammer, Will Couper, Jason Beamish and K. Patrick Glover, and stunning artwork from yet more of our number, including Veronika VonVolkova, Ferburton, Kperkins, Dmitri aka Winneganfake, Hey Apathy! and Jack Crowder.
It's a themed magazine: the first issue focuses on LITERATURE, with weird metafictional horror, literary in-jokes, and experimental writing.
To cap it all, we're going to announce a contest tomorrow to WIN THE COVER ART! That's right, you could be the proud owner of the original, signed sketch by Mike Rooth... details to follow!
I'll also have an official release date for you soon... early May is the current guess. Thanks as always for all your support, encouragement, inspiration and contributions.
It's looking pretty bad-ass, man! I think saw some form of cover for the Weaponizer magazine a while back with one of Robin's photographs on it. Is this the same magazine with a new cover or a different publication altogether?
@Magnulus: We published one issue last year but that model wasn't working out. This one has a lower page count but similar word count, and will be about 1/3 of the price. So I thought we'd be better just relaunching. It will be available online, and in selected shops in Edinburgh and Glasgow (hopefully more shops further afield, too, as we grow and evolve). Glad you dig it!
Oooh! Edinburgh! Yay! I'll have to pick it up! Which shops?
About Weaponizer, by the way, I am actively looking for new stories to read for a season of Telling of Tales. Is there a way for me to reach out to all your writers to ask if they have something they'd like read? I'm going through your author lists slowly but surely, but it's not always easy to know who's good and willing to have their stuff read aloud.
EDIT: Different Wine - Lee Devonish This is an example of a recently done recording. This has not been officially released. It's just a sample I uploaded to show to her to ask for her permission to release it on the podcast (which I got).
that cover is RAD! I'm totally excited to read the stories within and see what the Whitechaplains have come up with. Awesome job putting this together.
Wow, cool, I actually didn't realise Corey was on here! Apologies for leaving you out Corey. For the record everyone, Corey's story is absolutely brilliant. Beamish's one is so funny it makes your brain hurt. I can't wait to see what everyone thinks of the finished product.
Thanks for the kind words about the cover art, folks :) It isn't every day I am given an assignment with the instructions to 'draw whatever I want', and I didn't want to let any of the contributors to Weaponizer or anybody in the Halls of White Chapel down with anything less than my best work. To say that I had a amazing time doing this would be a major understatement.
