And another cat's out of the bag.

USA TODAY: USA TODAY: ALES KOT PLOTS YOUTHFUL REBELLION IN ‘WILD CHILDREN’

"The first spark that led to writer Ales Kot's debut in comics is something shock rocker Marilyn Manson once said about the Columbine high school shootings.

The exact quote? Well, Kot's going to remain cryptic about that for now. He'd rather you wait until July 11 to immerse yourself and ponder his Image Comics graphic novella Wild Children all on your own.

Kot teams with artist Riley Rossmo (Green Wake, Rebel Blood) for a story about a group of sharp, smart kids who've had enough of their high school and what they've been "learning" so they take the school and the teachers hostage. And this revolution will definitely be televised."

Much more, including a 4-page preview, here.

@ales, call me highly intrigued. Would your recent tweets hold any clues as to the sort of ground this is going to be covering?

    no cuddle time: Thanks!

WORSETHANDETROIT: Good, I'm glad you are. The tweets - if you mean the last two days, not really. There are, however, two other projects that have something to do with them.

Yeah I was thinking of the last couple of days, I just thought there was a certain theme being deveoloped through what you were talking about over the last couple of days over on twitter.
    (I'm not a creeper, honest :-P).

No worries! Yeah, there's definitely a sense of thematic unity to some elements of my research, especially in the past few.

The Michael Moore interview? Where he said he wouldn't say anything to them, he'd have listened to them?

I was in my LCS (Nottingham's Page 45) on Saturday and was discussing Wild Children with the guy behind the counter, he hadn't heard about it but he was very interested once I go thim to check out the preview. Knowing the type of material they usually stock I'm sure diamond will be getting an order for a few from them (certainly at least one for me anyway, as I've already asked them to pull it for me..)..

[edited to add, I've just shown the preview to another mate and he's pre-ordered it from Page 45 as well..]

    Oddcult: I know nothing.

WORSETHANDETROIT: Mate, thank you so much! Readers like you make all the difference in the world. Do you remember the retailer's name? I'd like to e-mail him and say thanks. Also, please tell your friend that I really appreciate him pre-ordering!

@Ales, No worries - the retailer I was chatting to called Tom, they know me as Steve and I'm sure they would welcome an email as they are big believers in pushing indie comics and creator-owned works. I was pretty sure I would be able to hook my mate cos we share pretty much exactly the same taste in comics films etc, and I'll definitely give him your thanks.

I've always tried to be vocal in my support of creators, and especially since reading Brian Wood's blog piece about how hard it can be getting retailers to order the damn things i've been really trying to be more pro-active in pre-ordering to show interest.

Riley Rossmo & I talked to MTV Geek & iFanboy.com about WILD CHILDREN. I'm pretty happy with how these interviews turned out.

Also? Fresh art. Take a look.

Ales -- Saw it in Previews a couple of weeks back, talked it up to my shop a little bit, they'll be getting one in for me and sounds like they'll get a couple of extra too.
Good luck with this, I hope it sells well for you.
